Funny, was just listening to the Beatles "taxman":
"Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat.
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
And you're working for no one but me."
If 10% is good enough for Jesus it should be good enough for Obama!
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away...
I think we should tax the Republican leadership every time they propose a bullshit budget, just to whine.
Grumpy Old Men
Obama's only been President a few weeks.
How many of these where in place during the Bush years?
You are the ones blindly supporting the War in Iraq costing 10 Billion per month for the last 6 years.
You are the one that supported deficit spending so the rich could have a major tax cut.
Where is the Republican plan of action? Oh that right you have a 12 page budget with no numbers on it. What leadership.
He's a real nowhere man

Making all his nowhere plans
FOR (EVERY)BODY
Ten Tax Facts for Tax Day Tea Parties
President Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress have gone on a spending and debt spree that the country cannot afford. As a result, a spontaneous grassroots movement is emerging from every corner of the nation with a message for Congress and the president: Stop spending us into an inevitable spiral of debt and higher taxes … now!
To that end, groups of Americans will be meeting in towns and cities across the nation on April 15 for “Tax Day Tea Parties” (think Boston Tea Party, not biscuits and fine English china). These “Ten Tax Facts” are our effort to make sure the American people are well- informed as they gather together to express their concern about the direction Washington is headed.
#1 .Under the Obama budget, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that the national debt will double over the next five years; and it will triple over the next 10 years to $17.3 trillion.
#2. Under the Obama budget, CBO projects that the national debt will soar over the next 10 years from 40 percent of GDP today to a shocking 82.4 percent. (Ronald Reagan left office with the national debt at 42 percent of GDP).
#3. The president’s budget also states that total federal borrowing will grow by $2.7 trillion this year alone, an increase of 27 percent in one year!
#4. The budget President Obama proposes for this year increases federal spending by an incredible 34 percent over the previous year, with a total of $4 trillion in federal spending, the highest ever.
#5. The federal budget deficit (not the national debt) would reach $1.845 trillion this year, according to the CBO, the highest ever. That would be more than seven times Reagan’s largest budget deficit of $221 billion, which caused so much consternation among Reagan’s critics.
#6. The CBO estimates that this Obama budget deficit will total an astounding 13.1 percent of GDP, more than one-eighth of the entire U.S. economy, for the federal budget deficit alone! Under George Bush, the federal deficit for 2008 was 3.2 percent of GDP. The deficit for fiscal year 2007, in the last budget adopted when Congress was controlled by Republican majorities, was $162 billion, or 1.2 percent of GDP.
#7. The Obama budget also includes $1 trillion in tax increases on the upper 5 percent of income earners, mostly tax rate increases. But the top 5 percent of income earners already pays 60 percent of all income taxes.
#8. The Obama budget projects that revenues from the corporate income tax will more than double in 3 years, increasing, in fact, by more than 124 percent.
#9. Another $645 billion tax increase comes from President Obama’s anti-global warming cap and trade system, which is essentially an energy tax on the production and use of carbon energy, such as oil, natural gas, and coal.
#10. While the Obama administration claims to have cut $2 trillion from the budget over 10 years, fully $1.5 trillion of those “cuts” actually represents the troop drawdown in Iraq, which was already scheduled to occur under the Bush administration. Of the remaining $500 billion in budget “savings,” fully $311 billion is categorized as “interest savings” but is actually an additional tax increase on upper income earners.

Hip enough for you Pocket, Simple enough for Liberal POV.
With all these taxes, there is not one agency that would say, " OK, we have enough money, thank you, we fixed the problem, now we can dissolve the agency or lower the tax."
It is never enough no matter how much.
Staying in the Beatles theme.
"Help, I need somebody." To save me from the imperial federal government of the United States.
"Rocky Raccoon went up to his room" only to find Obama's tax plan. Rocky used his gun to kill himself figuring that Lill and McGill would have it worse off being alive.
"I want to hold your hand" (So you can't use it to protect your wallet.)
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night." - If he tries that mess in the day there is a tax.
"She's got a ticket to ride and she don't care." Because I' m paying her mortgage.
"We all live in a yellow submarine." - Thanks to the failure to regulate Fannie Freddie, it's all we can afford.
"I'm back in the USSR, you don't know how lucky you are boys." (I wish I had a snarky comment for this one but it feels to close to true.).
Oh well, it is necessary to maintain a sense of humor in dark times.

Keep your day job.
I will give up comedy when you give up political philosophy.
The only difference between us is that I'm just kidding when I do comedy. You do comedy and think it is serious.
The comment above will not post the right address. There is a picture out there of Michel Obama serving food to the homeless and the customer has a cell phone with camera to take her picture....only in Liberal America. Michele obviously is oblivious.
Sark
That homeless person needs a cell phone to get a job.
I noticed last night that Michelle has a 76% approval rating. That can't hurt Obama's agenda.
POV
"That homeless person needs a cell phone to get a job."-POV
So your grandpappy or your father never had jobs?, The immigrant that just got here can't get a job 'til he gets a cell phone?
Sark
The answer is yes in today's world you do need a cell phone to get a job.
POV
I'll let your answer stand on it's own.
"The only difference between us is that I'm just kidding when I do comedy. You do comedy and think it is serious." to LPOV from Cinn.
You NAILED it!
Wolf and Cincy, please do not make fun of POV. I know he/she can be as annoying as the kid in the fourth grade that that would only get through one sentence during his five minutes of oral reading, but; bless his/her heart; he/she is trying. As long as he/she stays on the blog; it is inevitable that sooner or later he/she will learn something (as do we all). However, I am afraid that POV is like a flat rock. When you sharpen a knife on it, the steel gets sharper, but the rock just gets smoother.
By definition, a fascist economy is a system where major businesses and financial institutions are privately owned and yet run by the government. One has to have one's head in the sand to not see what's coming out of the District of Columbia in the last two months. Add to that a spending plan that exceeds all previous administrations since Washinton was president combined (money that we do not have). Now we have people that want to hand this country's health care over to the government. It's been tried around the world where it is operating in the red and being rationed. For an example of how the government works, simply look at the United States Postal Service. It has a monopoly. It doesn't pay federal or state income taxes and it's going broke while raising the price of mailing a letter and laying off it's workers. Of course, the Postmaster General is getting a raise. I hope all the nationalized health care advotees are keeping their brown shirts well pressed and starched, I want my executioners to look neat.

No country is having more financial difficultly with health care than the US. Our Health care is by far the most expensive in the world with the fewest of it's citizens having access to affordable health care.
Compare infant mortality and life expectance to other nations.
This issue is an excellent example of what Republicans think they know just ain't so.
I like the US postal service and want my mail to continue with the US postal service.
For less than $0.50 I can send a letter anywhere in the Uniter States. What a deal.
I can send a package cheaper than any other way.
Is doing away with the US postal service the next silliness of the Republican party?
POV, why are the proponents of socialized medicine those that do not have to use it? What is your explanation for all those people that flee their government sponsored health care because of long waits, poor service and rationed care? You are either misinformed or lieing saying the poor cannot get health care. Take for instance the illegal aliens that overload our hospitals by going to the emergency room instead of a doctor. They cannot be turned away from any hospital as I believe there is a fine for refusing to treat them.
I think you missed Bushrod's point. He was commenting on the inefficiency of a government run service versus the efficiency of a privately controlled company such as UPS.
By the way are you or your family recipients of welfare? You sound as if you are. This is not meant to be detrimental, because as far as I know, you may need the help.
I will research infant mortality and mortality rates. I believe ours are better than those of most if not all other countries. Thank you for the reference.
Guy
Very high tech medicine like you may find at John Hopkins is some of the best in the world. Routine medical care and access to that care is where we as a country fail.
The myth that huge numbers of people come to the US because of rationed care in Canada, England, Germany, France, Japan, Sweden, Norway,or any other industrialized country is just propaganda.
They may come for the high tech procedure but not many.
I have traveled to Canada on several occasions and found Canadian very proud of their medical system.
No, I'm not on welfare, I have a work history of well over 45 years. Bought my own clothes from the time I was 14.
I think the postal service is very efficient to deliver my letter to Washington State for less than $0.50.
I'm glad you are doing the research on infant mortality and life expectancy you will find we are tied with Cuba with Cuba's embargo and very low income. Please let me know what you find.
If as you say we all already have access to good health care why not adjust the way we're paying for that universal health care and make it more uniform?
Yea - liberals instituted all of these taxes.
And Faulkes IS an expert on juvenile behavior. Read HIS posts!
If as you say we all already have access to good health care why not adjust the way we're paying for that universal health care and make it more uniform? - POV
Because if we socialize health care the quality of care will decline, your care will be rationed, you will receive care when the state decides when and if you need it, etc.
Cinncinatus,
That was pretty awful. But you tried that's what really counts.
Also this whole communism shtick needs to stop, it is just ridiculous.
POV, I finally had time to research mortality rates. On one list of 195 counties 32 had a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S. On another list of 222 countries, 42 had a lower rate. The rate in the U.S.. is rising largely because of problems with drug use by mothers. Another reason is the use of fertility drugs that often result in babies that are not carried to full term.
The mortality rate over all is about the same. Out of 122 countries listed, 44 have a longer life expectancy than the U.S. The reason for this is not health care, but life style. Apparently we are a fat, lazy nation. We do not engage in enough physical activity and eat to much of the wrong foods. If not for the excellence of our health care, we would be even lower on this list.
Guy
Infanticide, abuse, abandonment, and neglect may also contribute to infant mortality Related statistical categories
Guy
I agree with your numbers, but not your conclusions.
Those countries doing better than us all have Universal Health care and as part of Universal Health care more preventive medicine is practiced. Preventive medicine would address some of the thing you list not enough exercise, diet, smoking. We should tax sugar and Junk food like cigarettes to help pay for Universal Health care.
The other question we as a nation need to answer is why do Americans feel the need to do drugs. Law enforcement has failed to make any difference in this problem and you are right this is part of the problem.
Thanks for doing that research.
POV, I gave you detailed information. Now give me some. Where do you get the idea that all or even most of those countries with a lessor mortality rate have socialized medicine? This is not the case in many instances. The mortality rate is determined by many other things than just health care.
Guy
It seem we are the only industrialized country without Universal Health care so the answer is easy all those in front of us have Universal Health care.

POV, many of the countries that have lower mortality rates than the U.S. are not classified as industrialized. I looked at most of your references when I did the original research. Once again, there are many other factors that effect mortality rates than health care. Do you fail to recognize that fact?
Just think how good some of these countries would be if they had decent health care in addition to the other factors that decrease their mortality rate.
Guy
Please list which of the countries that have lower infant mortilaty and life expectance than the US. I didn't find any.
I though I covered your other conserns and even agreed with to a point.
We tax that much of the things that lead to poor health to help pay for Universal Health Care, Tobacco, Sugar, even my beer, Big Macs.
Off subject: Did you ever drive by a hospital with the staff on smoke break, more than a little over weight, eating junk food and drinking Diet Mtn Dew?
Guy
Above comment should be.
