Intelligence Test Question on Honduras
Intelligence test question:
Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez and Barak Obama were the first to immediately protest the coup in Honduras today. What do all of these men have in common?
All replaced repressive right wing governments that tortured people?
Are the Republicans now opposed to free election?
I just heard of the coup with this post what is the right wing extremist position? Let me re phrase that question what do the conservatives on this blog think about the coup?
POV-Three of the four are credibly accused of REAL torture by international groups. Not of terrorists, but political enemies. If you include Obama's speaking style, it is four for four.
Rasmussen: Obama Approval Index at 0 Gene Schwimmer Today's Rasmussen poll has Obama's Approval Index at zero. What's especially significant is that this comes four days after ABC's all-day-culminating-with-a-broadcast-from-the-White House health-care plan telethon and five days after a press conference -- one in which, incidentally, some reporters were (finally!) actually asking challenging questions and reacting to the (il)logic of his answers. Note that, during that time Obama's A.I. never exceeded +2, compared to previous peaks of +10 after the Sotomayor nomination and +9 after his Cairo speech.
In other words, Obama's ability to pump up the numbers via media extravaganzas has hit the point of diminishing returns.
Funny, Chavez threatening military action in Honduras as he complains about US involvement in other countries internal affairs. Does FARC ring any bells?
If the Honduran in question violated their Constitution then yes, take him out. There might as well not be one if the sitting President can ignore it. It is a more peaceful way than civil unrest. The Military swears to uphold the Constitution. "I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.[ Same if Obama continues to violate our Constitution by turning us in to a Socialist country.
POV, you have to remember we are all NOT self-hating Americans. Liberalism's main characteristic is self-loathing. It is just not a Conservative characteristic. Did the South Americans hate only other Americans and not you?
Obama bands with his comrades and declares the coup illegal. The man has no respect for a Constitution. He thinks the military swears oath to an individual rather than a Constitution (as in the 3rd Reich). These Fascists all think alike.
So it's now the Republican position is that a Military Dictatorship if right wing is better than a leftist Democracy? Citizens of a country have no say in their form of government or leaders if offensive to the American Right Wing?
Free elections are for only when right wing extremist agree with the out come?
When Sark says " These Fascists all think alike" is he referring to the American right wing?
POV- There is no such thing as a leftist democracy. Once you turn over all power to the government, you are no longer a democracy. As we see always in history, the Parliament becomes a rubber stamp for the head leftist in charge. Then, as in recent history, they won't leave Office. The Constitution is the Constitution. That is my contract with my country. Disregard it like the Honduran did and Obama is trying to do, and all bets are off.
It's not like this was an isolated incident. She's 2 for 6. She's now been overturned 66% of the time by the Supreme Court.
But, the radicals in the White House defended their radical choice for Supreme Court justice today anyway. The Hill reported:
The White House came to the defense of President Obama's pick to be the newest Supreme Court justice after Judge Sonia Sotomayor's ruling in a racially charged case was reversed by the Supreme Court.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs all but accused the current court of "judicial activism," a buzz term used by conservatives in recent years, in overturning what the White House saw as Sotomayor's upholding of precedent.
The highest court ruled Monday that a group of white firefighters in New Haven, Conn. were discriminated against after the city threw out a promotion test after one Hispanic and no African-Americans passed. Sotomayor ruled in favor of the city as an appeals court judge.
Republicans on Monday sought to use the case to question Sotomayor's qualifications and buy more time before her confirmation hearings are set to begin on July 13.
But Gibbs said that the case "denotes that [Sotomayor] is a follower of precedent," and the arguments over judicial activism "seem to be at the very least upside-down in this case."
Gibbs said the case proves "she doesn't legislate from the bench."
"I think it is an interesting new interpretation of a law that has been reviewed by many judges in many courts, judges appointed by Democrats and Republicans."
POV- If you ask Castro if he was elected by a landslide, he would say yes. He is also a military man...note the uniform...Comandante if you don't know. Guess where Chavez came from. Ortega also a Comandante. Obama is the only one of the four with no military background. Unless his saluting as CIC is enough for you. Can you imagine the USA taking the side of three devout Communists because another Communist was booted out of Office for violating a Constitution. Wonder why? Because this is where Obama's sympathies lie...yours also.
I am not convinced that the military committed a coup d'etat, per se. With such widespread reaction abroad, what was the reaction from the other branches of the Honduran government?
Interestingly, the Honduran Congress (including members of Zelaya's own Liberal Party) gave the military a standing ovation, and the Honduran Supreme Court said the military was acting on their orders. In a statement released on Honduran radio, the court said that the military "acted to defend the rule of law."
This raises the question of what is actually happening in Honduras; for the goal of the military's actions cannot be both a coup and the defense of the rule of law (the actions themselves can be a hybrid, however). Only time will tell, but I believe two factors are present which support the view that the military was acting to protect the Honduran constitution.
1. Zelaya was acting less like a democratically elected president and more like a Bolivarian Revolutionist in the making. The actions that precipitated his removal were in direct contradiction to the Honduran Constitution, which limits presidential tenure to one term. His presidency has been marked by moving the country further left, and his attempt to change the constitution drove a wedge between his office and the rest of the Honduran government. Both the Supreme Court and the attorney general labeled his plans to hold a "constitutional referendum" illegal, yet he was prepared to proceed forward regardless.
2. The Honduran Constitution was followed in the selection of the "acting president." Roberto Micheletti, who happens to be a member of Zelaya's Liberal Party, was a congressional leader until sworn in as president until January 27, 2010. Furthermore, the government released a statement today indicating that the presidential elections will occur as scheduled this November.
If this is a coup, then it is unlike almost any other in history. The former president is alive and safe, albeit out of power and in another country. An acting president has been named per the constitution, and presidential elections will still be held this fall. Also, the differing political parties have come together to support the removal of the former president. As it stands, the only government leaders labeling this a coup are the ex-president himself and leaders of other countries, especially those with personal socialist or Marxist leanings.
There is still a subject open for debate, though. Politics, unlike morality, is rarely defined in black and white; it usually takes place in shades of gray. For those interested in political philosophy, there are issues present which make this event very interesting. One of the questions most relevant to removal and replacement of the president is who violated the Honduran Constitution, and thus their contractual obligations: the military, Zelaya or both?
The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled in favor of Al Franken today. FOX News reported:
The Minnesota Supreme Court has ordered that Democrat Al Franken be certified as the winner of the state's long-running Senate race.
The high court rejected a legal challenge from Republican Norm Coleman, whose options for regaining the Senate seat are dwindling.
Justices said Franken is entitled to the election certificate he needs to assume office. When Franken is sworn in, he'll give Democrats a big enough majority to overcome Republican filibusters.
Thank goodness they found those lost ballots in that car trunk! And, thank goodness for those 2,812 dead voters who showed up to vote for Franken. He couldn't have done it without you.
You knew on election night when Coleman was only ahead by nearly a thousand votes that this seat was lost.
Newt Gingrich attacked Barack Obama for siding with Marxists Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez in attacking the Honduran Supreme Court and Congress for protecting the nation's consitution. The Hill reported:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich accused President Obama of siding with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez when it comes to the recent coup in Honduras.
Gingrich blasted Obama for opposing the coup in Honduras, which the former GOP leader insisted would have left in place a "leftist dictatorship."
Gingrich tweeted Tuesday:
Sadly the obama administration has joined castro and chavez attacking honduran supreme court and congress for defending their constitution
Having castro call for defending democracy should convince any reasonable person that honduras was on the edge of a leftist dictatorship
Standing unified with his amigo Hugo Chavez, President Obama appears ready to engage in a spirited defense of another leftist head of state, Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, who was tossed out of power and out of the country over the weekend.
While it took days for Obama to pass judgment on events following Iran's presidential election, he swiftly expressed "deepest concern" over Zelaya's ouster at the hand of the Honduran government. A few hours after the ouster, Obama called on leaders in Tegucigalpa to "respect democratic norms," which would seem to be a call to restore Zelaya to power.
There is one small problem. Zelaya's removal from office was precipitated by his own illegal actions and attempts to undermine his nation's fragile democracy. Granted, any time a Latin American army takes a president into custody we hearken back to simpler times when generals hand picked presidents and if they got out of line, they lost their jobs, if not their lives. This situation is far more complex. And while Zelaya's ouster is an extreme reaction, the president's own moves are far more injurious to real democracy than those that the military, the Honduran attorney general, and supreme court took in trying to enforce the law.
The Obama administration cannot hold itself back from jumping into the fray, with Secretary of State Clinton parroting Chavez, Daniel Ortega and the Castro regime in demanding that their ally be restored to power. We are truly judged by the company we keep.
Add all of your last comments to Obama's reaction to the invasion of Georgia, and we have been taken-over from within just like Nikita Khrushchev promised. Our enemies are now aligned with Obama, but the enemy didn't CHANGE.
POV, you might be correct. Maybe there should be an investigation of Obama's past concerning drugs as well as his involvement with the alleged criminal activities with ACORN.
Should there have been an investigation? Should their have been some sort of impeachment? Should the original story mentioned drugs?
No, this was you old style right wing coup.
Isn't it true the right wing of Latin America supported Hitler and gave refuge to Nazi exiles?
A fascist right wing coup must have been the only answer.
Do you GOP Grumpy Old People know how foolish you look?
Lets review:
You and Republicans now support torture.
You and Republicans are opposed to fair trails.
You and Republicans support right wing coups over popular support of democratic elections.
You and Republicans want a medical care system that denies medical treatment of those who have no insurance or paid for polices that refuse payment or can't afford treatment.
You oppose a living wage.
You believe knowledge creates liberals so oppose education, have a distain for educated university professors, students, NPR, PBS,BBC, documentaries, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, Time, Newsweek, CSpan. You may be correct on that one, most liberals do seem to understand the more complex issues. Should their have been an investigation? Should their have been some sort of impeachment? Should the original story mentioned drugs?
No, this was you old style right wing coup.
Isn't it true the right wing of Latin America supported Hitler and gave refuge to Nazi exiles?
Actually, governments in South America leaned both ways in their support of the Allied and Axis Powers. I assume you are speaking of Argentina. The Argentine government did not formally enter the war even though the Perons very publicly favored the Axis Powers. I do not think you could call the Perons 'right wing" as their polices were socialist.
What does this have to do with the question of whether Obama should be investigated for disobeying drug laws as well his involvement with the alleged election law violations of ACORN?
What do you mean I oppose a living wage. All I want is for you to preform a service that is worth what you are paid. What does that or any other of the items you mention have to do with the Honduras issue?
I know you can't make a logical argument so you keep trying to change the subject, but you really need to calm down. Your poor syntax makes your post very hard to read.
The president should not allow Barack Obama a victory of "Chavism" in Honduras and should take into account that the impeachment of president Manuel Zelaya was made by order of the Supreme Court and of respect for institutions, said Wednesday the Wall Street Journal.
Zelaya was plotting to remain in power, the Journal reported in an editorial. He added that the Honduran president had help from Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez to reform the constitution to run for reelection and to meet its target as it did the same Chavez.
"The events of Honduras should be interpreted in light of the decade of chavismo in Latin America," said an editorial in the Journal.
Obama has joined with Marxists Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega and Raul Castro to condemn the "coup" against Leftist Manuel Zelaya.
Does the Honduran government have the right to enforce its own Constitution? Isn't it a sovereign nation?
Webster's defines ‘sovereignty' as "supreme power, especially over a body politic; freedom from external control...especially, an autonomous state." Therefore, a simple definition of national sovereignty is the right of a legitimate nation-state to enforce its own laws and determine its own fate without influence, pressure or threat of force from an outside source.
Does Honduras have exclusive jurisdiction to enforce its Constitution, or does the rest of the world have a legitimate say in how Honduras self-governs? In order to answer this question one must first ask if Honduras is an autonomous nation, or is Honduras a dependent territory that must first seek permission prior to enforcing its laws. The answer to this question should help make clear the role of the world in Honduran internal affairs.
So it's now the Republican position is that a Military Dictatorship if right wing is better than a leftist Democracy? Citizens of a country have no say in their form of government or leaders if offensive to the American Right Wing?
Free elections are for only when right wing extremist agree with the out come?
The referendum to change the 20 year old Constitution would have been voted on by the citizens of Honduras.
Castro was re-elected by a 99% majority. This is POV's Leftist Democracy. Hugo Chavez will probably invade Honduras this month, and execute dissenters just like the duly elected Castro did. Then Chavez and POVEZ will go back to crying about the US meddling in foreign affairs.
Thanks Reader for the Honduran link. Another hoax the Liberal has swallowed hook, line and sinker. If Chavez does invade the peaceful country of Honduras, Governor Perry could send the Texas National Guard to kill Chavez and his army of Communistas. Obama won't do it. He is afraid the drug cartels will come after him.
Sark, after reading some of those blogs, it's a scary situation down there. They are writing to the WH to see if they can get help, which is doubtful. Lib, you may want to read some of the favorite blogs on the site I listed, so you can see the truth.
Reader- The truly weird thing about the Honduras affair was how quick the Left here gave their support to the Left there. The Honduran Military was carrying out orders from their Supreme Court. Once their President was removed, their Congress appointed his replacement. The Left here relates it to a military coup where usually, one individual Colonel or General then becomes the dictator. This didn't happen yet the Left ignores the facts and says it did happen that way. If Obama doesn't help Honduras against Chavez, especially after ending our military relationship with Honduras which is a signal to Chavez to do what he wants, he will have no loyal opposition here. He will be a traitor to what used to be the non-Communist aligned countries. All the South American countries will fall to the narco-leftists including Mexico. Then we have millions and millions more illegally entering our country to escape the inevitable misery of having no future.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - President Hugo Chavez's government assumed control of Venezuela's third-largest bank on Friday - making the state the largest player in the nation's banking system. The purchase of the Spanish-owned Banco de Venezuela gives Chavez's socialist government control over more than one-fifth of bank deposits as he tightens his grip over the economy.

You right wing nuts amaze me.
You all need to go back to a basic civic class.

Castro was re-elected by a 99% majority. This is POV's Leftist Democracy.
Hugo Chavez will probably invade Honduras this month, and execute dissenters
just like the duly elected Castro did.
Then Chavez and POVEZ will go back to crying about the US meddling in foreign affairs.

So now free elections are not among basic human rights you support?
Chavez has been elected by about 60% of the vote in Venezuela.
I 2002 he was removed by a similar coup backed by the Bush Admin.
Two day later Chavez was reinstated after the citizens of Caracca came down from the hill surrounding Caracca in a revolt making Chavez stronger.
Conservative think in the shallow end of the think tank.
GOP
There's no way you fools can make the bullshit in Honduras not smell like shit.
You would have a much beter chance with getting the Republican Governor of South Carolina the Father of the Year Award.
POV- That little kid is using you screen name.

Sark, more bull poo for Lib.

The truly weird thing about the Honduras affair was how quick the Left here gave their support to the Left there.

Sound familiar?
