Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?
What's so hard about saying the courts have no right to tell people what to eat? The MSM is calling this a "gotcha" question that will never come up but I'm not so sure. Think about it, if government is paying for health care then why wouldn't they say you aren't allowed live on a diet of bacon and Twinkies?

It never ceases to amaze me what control freaks the lefties are.
EVERY facet of our lives they want to regulate.
All for our own "good".
I'm sure that LPOV will be here to tell us it's "for the children".
As C. S. Lewis wrote:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be ‘cured’ against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Nice quote Wolf's Head, and a very accurate portrayal of the liberals.
Excellent Quote Wolf's Head. ( Lewis )
Silly Conservatives
Now there's a Liberal conspiracy to that your twinkies away? I can see where Rush could be upset. I've seen the photos of over weight smokers at the Tea Party socials. I can see they want no part of a healthy life style.
Relax no one is coming for your twinkies.
What I would like to see is the government stop subsiding sugar and corn which make up far too much of the American diet and subsidize local grown produce and fruits for small family farmers making higher quality food availible to familes at a reasonable cost.
Sugar should even be taxed to make it less profitable for use as a filler by Kraft and the food industry.
The marketing of empty calories to children is also a problem causing a sharp rise in diabetes and other sugar related illnesses.
Conservaatives
You can tell the this senator is earning his sugar money.
Wolf
I to like your quote, I think of the extreme fundamental Christian wing of the Republican party and ALL of the personal invasions of personal freedoms and decision making they want the government to make a crime or block full citizenship right to.
POV- You can choose not to be a "Right-wing Christian" or even a Christian or Jew if you so choose. I can not choose to NOT obey laws the Left is passing...Health-care Bill and all that will follow. The taking of my money at gunpoint to give to those the do-gooders believe less fortunate... no choice. You can choose to be an Athiest... there is no law compelling you to NOT do it.

Now if this doesn't say it all! You liberal socialists just can't help trying to take honest folks money can you. If you would get a job, become a productive citizen, and worry about yourself, then you wouldn't need to tax anyone. If you think more entitlement programs and government interference are needed, then donate all of your own money and leave my hard earned cash out of it.

"The marketing of empty calories to children is also a problem causing a sharp rise in diabetes and other sugar related illnesses." LPOV
Told ya.
And by the way LPOV, I have 2 children with Type 1, or Juvenile, diabetes. Your comment about sugar causing childhood diabetes is totally false and typical of the leftist scare tactics you morons on the left use.
No one knows what causes Type 1 Diabetes. It's not genetic, as with many families including mine, there is ZERO history of diabetes. There is some evidence that it may be environmental, such as a complication from immunizations or chemical exposure, with perhaps a genetic "trigger", or susceptibility to some pollutant.
Sugar, by itself DOES NOT CAUSE CHILDREN TO DEVELOP DIABETES.
Your stupidity is beyond belief, and your political whoring for evil people who like to manipulate weak minded people such as yourself and your leftist comrades for their financial gain is destroying our country and our culture.
Idiot.
Wolf
"The list of health problems associated with sugar is quite lengthy and growing by the year. Some generalities include the following:
depression
mood swings
irritability
hyperactivity
anxiety
panic attacks
mineral deficiencies
adrenal gland depletion
hypoglycemia
candida overgrowth
increased cholesterol levels
chronic fatigue
Then we get into the more serious diseases and disorders, as cancers, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Sugar, even in small amounts, suppresses the immune system making it easier to succumb to the various ailments. It should be noted though that there is a very significant difference between white refined sugar and naturally occurring complex sugars found in whole foods.
To be sure, sugar is needed by the body for energy. However, far too many people are getting too much of a good thing – way too much.
Diabetes
Although diabetes is not caused by sugar, it is definitely the most well known sugar-related disorder. Diabetes is now thought to be the result of cell amnesia. "
http://www.innvista.com/health/nutrition/diet/sproblem.htm
"Type II diabetes is known as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). This commonly appears later in adult life, thereby acquiring its other name – adult-onset diabetes. Over 90% of Americans who have diabetes have this type. It is a metabolic disorder resulting from the body's inability to make enough insulin, or properly use it. This disease is often associated with obesity, family history of diabetes, prior history of gestational diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, physical inactivity, and race or ethnicity. This type is increasingly being diagnosed in children and adolescents."
Save it.
Your a control freak who finds, somehow, satisfaction in controlling other peoples lives and have NO CONCEPT of freedom, or personal responsibility.
AS I WROTE: SUGAR DOES NOT CAUSE DIABETES IN CHILDREN.
QUOTE: Diabetes
Although diabetes is not caused by sugar, it is definitely the most well known sugar-related disorder."
That is what YOU posted. So either retract your asinine statements about Diabetes in children or prove what an uninformed idiot you really are.
Wolf
How's this?
The marketing of empty calories to children is a problem causing a sharp rise in obesity creating a greater risk of type II diabetes later in life and other sugar related illnesses.
The federal government should stop subsiding sugar and corn which make up far too much of the American diet and subsidize local grown produce and fruits grown by small family farmers making higher quality food availible to familes at a reasonable cost.

Yes, marijuana should be decriminalized.
We in the land of the free have more of our citizens behind bars than any society in the history of mankind.
I likes Wolf's quote for that and other reasons where the fundamentalist right wing Republicans want to get into people personal lives.
No one wants to send you to jail for eating a twinkie or smoking a cigarette but you folks support laws that do jail people or want to create laws to jail a woman for making a personal decision about her own body. You want to deny people the right to die with dignity.
Wolf's quote fundamentalist Christians should consider.

If government (us) ends up paying for health care then to be good stewards of our money they must tell us to limit sugar... and trans fats... and alcohol... and cigarettes... and motorcycles... and skydiving... and every aspect of our lives. I suspect that was Kagan's line of reasoning.
Liberal utopia.
LPOV, you are an idiot.
Sugar is a form of carbohydrates, So is starch.
Fruits have sugar in them, remember your grade school science classes? Your just substituting one sugar for another.
Carbohydrates are converted to sugar for use by the body, it just takes longer for them to be converted and absorbed. Rice, potatoes, wheat, corn all have carbs. Rice is more easily converted to sugar than the others.
Gov't needs to sop subsidizing ANYTHING, including your "local food provider". If it's economical they will survive, if not they are not efficient enough to compete.
Your ignorance is revolting, and your insistence on controlling others is disgusting.
Wolf
What a pleasant person you are, your family must love this attitude, and so smart.
Is it your argument that sugar is as good as fruit or any other source of calories and we should do nothing to improve the American diet? You disagree with subsidies in general but see nothing wrong with the sugar industry being among them or the Republicans defending the Sugar lobby along with, banking, oil, coal , pharmaceuticals, and Chemicals?
Our current policy is to subsidize the sugar industry. The Republican senator here is defending the junk food lobby and sugar industry.
"Fruits have sugar in them, remember your grade school science classes? Your just substituting one sugar for another. "
The above is true but they are not the empty calories of sugar leading to consuming larger quantities of sugar and lacking the fiber and nutrients found in fruits along with slower digestion.
Look at the evidence of a street scene in most any America City compared to most any other city in the world and count the over weight citizens. That is the effect of the American sugar lobby this Republican senator represents.
Go have you twinkies and coke for breakfast.
Sugar related illnesses that could affect you personally.
"The list of health problems associated with sugar is quite lengthy and growing by the year. Some generalities include the following:

Okay Lib, I get it. You want government to tell us what to eat. How about sleep? How many deaths are caused by people falling asleep at the wheel? What about those poor kids that can't concentrate in school? Think about their sleepy bus driver? The government should regulate sleep.
How about weight? There should be a tax on fat people, it's so unhealthy. As a matter of fact extremely skinny people are unhealthy too. We should have a commission to study the ideal
weight.
We should also make people exercise. I could give you a list a mile long of the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle.
Obviously cigarettes and alcohol should be outlawed, agree?
HD
How did you get from my comment that sugar and high fructose corn syrup should not be subsided by the government making it the cheapest product in the American diet and most profitable for the food industry to going to jail for eating a twinkie?
The senator here is owned by the junk food industry, sugar lobby and high fructose corn syrup lobby not the interest of the general public.
Our school lunch programs get loaded with food high in sugar and high fructose corn syrup.
The whole food stamp program is designed to increase the food industry profits not provide wholesome food to low income families.
Do you see nothing wrong with the American diet?
Why is high sugar cereals the ones marketed to kids on Saturday mornings?
"Do you see nothing wrong with the American diet?

I see nothing wrong with letting people eat what they want. I can't believe I have to say it.
I wonder if Lib fed his children Captain Crunch topped with 3 tablespoons of sugar just because he saw a commercial. Or may be he's worried all the stupid little people will. How could they not what with all that marketing?
"What a pleasant person you are, your family must love this attitude, and so smart." LPOV
Yes, they like the fact that I will stand up for their Freedom from little goosestepping morons such as yourself.

"I see nothing wrong with letting people eat what they want."
I see nothing wrong with letting people eat what they want, but high fat and empty calories diets should cost more than a well balances diet.
American citizens should not have to sacrifice their children to the profit gods of the food industry.
The sugar and corn industry control Washington and the media. Look at the size of Americans today.
No ones going to take your Mountain Dew away just make it cost more.
POV- Seriously, can you NOT see where government will want to eventually control diet as part of the government health-care plan? That is of course if the law is not declared un-Constitutional or voted out by the new Congress... or not funded by the new Congress.
Just as a reminder, John Edwards wanted forced annual physicals as part of national health care.
"No ones going to take your Mountain Dew away just make it cost more." -LiberalPOV
Aside from an occaisional sip out of a mason jar I don't drink Mountain Dew. I do love the commercials though.
Sadly, after meaningless senatorial gyrations, Kagan will be confirmed.
The whole process makes 2012 look very important.
I don't know who the republicans will put on the ballott but if Kagan is the kind of person that 'His competence' wants to put on the court then we have to get at least a centrist and at best a conservative. The second amendment was only upheld by a 5-4 margin. The next few court appointments are very crucial.
I thought you could eat whatever you like and just exercise. Trouble is, exercise is free and there's no law against it. No one seems to have a problem with it...it works. Might want to suggest that to all your buds Lib. That way, they can eat all the Krispie Kreme's and Frosted Flakes they desire. Yum, making me hungry. Might go get a bowl of ice cream. Then brush my teeth, to take care of them. Remember Mtn Dew mouth? People really need to find something else to occupy their time. In other words, they need to mind their own business. While they are at it practice brushing their teeth, putting down the fork, eating healthy foods and exercise. Common sense things. You don't have an argument Lib, with anything I've mentioned.
Liberal Socialist Sheep POV said:

I love it when you liberal idiots say this. Do you realize the reason this is true is because all you liberal zealots want government control over people;s lives? What in the hell did you think would happen when Clinton put 100,000 cops on the street? Yeah, you idiot, they had to justify their existance. They are in nearly every facet of our lives, a faceless, elitest class who answer to no one.
Take the King, NC emergency declaration this past winter. Why do we need people being jailed for carrying guns or alchol? Or the Chicago, DC, or NYC gun ban. These senseless laws, put on the books by do gooders like you, are there to put people in jail. Just ask Plaxico Burris or Gilbert Arenas. Those two poor souls are serving major time for possessing a handgun that, in 48 other states, is perfectly legal. YOU put those laws on the books.
Hate crimes are another one. Making a special class of criminal statute is designed for one thing and one thing only - to put more people in jail. Anti-bullying law are another one that you idiots are getting ready to press upon society. If you feel bullied by me right now, which you ineveitably do, then quit, find a decent moral foundation, or fight back. I don't need more cops and laws, yet the liberals say we do. The age of personal responsibilty is long gone, and as long as you look to the government for help, you will have large, large numbers of people (many innocent like Plaxico and Arenas) in jail.
I have never understood how a liberal could be stupid enough to wonder why there are so many people in jail when you idiots are the very reason for it!!!!!!! You just love to legislate people into compliance instead of allowing society to set its own values (corporal punishment in schools for example).
Your such an idiot, but it is fun showing you exactly how big of an idiot you really are. Don't quit on us just yet. LOL!!!

Conservative Health Food Eater:
Why must my fellow conservatives talk foolishness about the food we eat. It's obvious that sugar is a huge issue and a problem for us all, and those who choose to eat processed foods loaded with it. Why are you arguing about this? Should the govt. tell you what to eat, no. But it's doing that in our public schools. None of us had ADHD when we were kids - we played outside, and most of our parents had gardens, Mom's were home and cooked for us. We didn't sit our fat buts down in front of TV's and video games for hours on end either, nor did we eat the amount of crap that kids do today.
Why must my fellow conservatives argue about the food problems instead of embracing them and taking them for ourselves?
Same with environmental issues - why are you letting the leftist libs carry this on - when most of you are supposed to know what being a 'steward of the earth' is?
I don't get it.
Off course wee had ADHD. We just did not call it that. The condition did not spring up over night and eating habits have nothing to do with it.
You forget to mention one thing that was effective in dealing with this condition. It was corporal punishment. many times a good spanking would be more effective in curing poor behavior than doping the kids out of their minds as is currently done.
Nonny you wrote: "Should the govt. tell you what to eat, no."
That's all I'm saying. Everything else is a diversion from that point. Sugar is not precious to me. I don't put it in my coffee. I don't like candy or soda pop. I don't eat processed food and my garden is kicking butt. However, if I want to go on a sugar binge I am free to do so. It's that freedom that's precious.
Anonymous- In the Fifties and Sixties when I was a kid, we ate sugar sandwiches on white bread. Probably the same in the Forties. We had processed food all the time. Kool-aide with cups of sugar, lemonade with cups of sugar, cigarettes and booze were everywhere. Yet you could still count my ribs.
Cake with sugar and flour. All problems today are caused by liberalism... including unemployment in our youth. I watched every TV show for kids that came on in the fifties. I sat in front of the TV staring at the test pattern until Superman came on at 5pm. We had TV dinners and all store-bought foods.
Conservatives do take-care of the environment, we just don't buy 9 bathroom houses or build 28,00SF houses and tell others to "conserve". The Left holds these issues because the Left MSM media allow it and support it... not because it is true.
The liberal mindset says if you don't want the government empowered to tell us what to eat then you must want unhealthy citizens. If you don't want gun control laws then you must want a return to the wild wild west with duels in the streets. If you oppose gay marriage then you must hate gays. If you disagree with Obama's policies then you must be a racist. If you want to secure the boarders then you (again) must be a racist. If you want to cut spending then you must not care for your fellow man.
In other words, if you aren't a liberal then you are a despicable person.
HD
"The liberal mindset says if you don't want the government empowered to tell us what to eat then you must want unhealthy citizens"
Show me where that's been said?
What we do want is an end to government subsides for high fructose corn syrup and its use in nearly all processed foods. We want an end to sugar subsidies.
We want healthy food with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in school lunch programs with limits of sugar and high fructose corn syrup in processed foods and a junk food removed from food stamp program.
We don't think foods with high fructose corn syrup as the number or number two ingredient in a processed food is a good idea.
I don't understand the position of you here wanting American children sacrificed their children to the profit gods of the food industry.
I don't understand your complete support of the junk food industry lobby and the politicians the own?

Deciding to have a child is an extremely personal choice and politicians and preachers should have no voice in the individuals freedom to make this decision.
The government needs to stay out of peoples personal lives.
