Fired By The Tolerant Left

I'm sure you all have heard about the recent kerfuffle on "The View" when Bill O'Reilly was a guest. On Monday night NPR's senior correspondent and Fox News contributor Juan Williams told O'Reilly this: "I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.” NPR fired him last night. Here's the story.

I wonder if Williams would have been fired had he said he gets nervous if he sees a passenger in a white sheet? So, who has the big tent, diversity of opinion stance here Fox or NPR?

Liberals believe in freedom of speech as long as you don't say anything that they disagree with.

The bigger picture. Ask yourself - Do we really need a taxpayer funded radio network?

" Do we really need a taxpayer funded radio network?"

Yes, other wise it will only be the Robber Baron Network.

Williams and Conservatives don't get it, if someone was really trying to bring explosives onto a plan would they call attention to themselves?

Go peddle your fear and aid the oppressed billionaire. What fools!

Taxpayer funded?

It is my understanding that Hugo Chavez is a major underwriter of NPR through donations from his oil company, Citgo.

"Don't forget George Soros' contributions!"

George Soro's is big on humanitarian issues, Human rights, Justice, anti war, I see why you Dick Cheney groupies hate him so much.

George Soros is a tick on society. Gorging on weak currency, he backed Obama because he saw an opportunity to cash in on Obamas' failed economic policies. Five straight weeks of declining dollar values has repaid his investment 1000 times quite a good return on investment betting on the misery of all Americans. You pick a "real" good guy to back Liberal POV defend Soros some more.

Honest Debate said...

So Lib supports Soros but not Juan Williams? Terrific.

Can a taxpayer funded organization discriminate or fire an employee based upon the content of his or her non employment speech? Isn’t that a violation of the First Amendment? Interesting questions.

Oatz, You have Soros nailed.

He just donated 1.8 million to NPR. From the moment I heard the story today of Juan Williams, I said the Left is behind this because Juan has become more broad in his thinking--something they can't tolerate. He had departed slightly from time to time lately from the strict party line. 1.8 million buys a lot of clout.

NPR proudly displays its open-mindedness.

PC only, spoken here. Don't offend us with your truths, you're fired!

Juan Williams use to irritate me. But this actually made me sick to my stomach. I'm with Huckabee, Gingrich, and others who are speaking up. Let's have a congressional investigation of what the real agenda is at NPR.

Once they are on the plane... yes. Once they know the idiocy of PC runs the airport... yes.

FEAR causes insane responses, with fear reasoning is lost.

The right is consumed with fear and Mr Williams with the help of those fear mongers at Fox added to that insanity. NPR did the right thing by not becoming part of the problem.

The Muslim extremist want you to react without reason fueling the fear and hate around the world forcing a religous war between Muslim and Christian. You're doing their work for them.

Remember there're 1.5BILLION Muslims in the world we can live together in peace if your kind just stop fear mongering.

You post these Bullshit urban legends and Reader and Guy are folish enough to believe witout question.

Give us the FULL story with links beyond right wing hate Blogs.

As I and many others have often said on this blog, NPR should receive no public funding. If they cannot make it in a free market, they nee to go.

Hopefully this debacle over their firing Williams will cost them their funding.

Wolf's Head said...

"Yes, other wise it will only be the Robber Baron Network." Cracker moron lpov

And it's not already? They get most of their funding from EVIL CORPORATIONS WHO WANT TO MAKE, GASP!, PROFITS!!!!!!

They even have, hold on, ADVERTISING, on NPR. Oh the shame!!!!!

Wake up Cracker moron, your ignorance is showing.

As for tax dollars going to NPR CUT IT ALL. I can listen to Bach on CDs and not have to put up with Nina Totenberg (which means "Death Mountain" in German) or Diane Rehm spouting their bigotry and nonsense.

Wolf's Head said...

By the way, I've seen Williams on Fox news and listened to him on NPR.

He's a leftist idiot.

However, he is an American and has the right of free speech as does everyone else. What NPR did to him was more about the left hating Fox than his comments.

Nina Totenberg has made incredible statements of hate speech which NPR apparently agrees with as she is still employed.

Guess Williams just came up against the left's bigotry and double standards.

Reading this thread, it was very apparent to me that Lib didn't know that Juan Williams IS a self identified liberal. Lib, you might want to youtube the entire interview because Williams was making the case that Muslims should not be discriminated against in spite of misgivings most people feel deep down after 9/11. He was only being honest about his own thoughts, but was taking the stand that that's not enough of a reason to discriminate. You took the ignorant, shotgun approach again of lumping everyone on Fox News as a conservative and shooting off your keyboard prematurely. How many issues do you discuss with such limited knowledge?

Mike D. said...

Wolf,

Thanks for the "Death Mountain" chuckle. You kind of lost me with the "leftist idiot" remark, but I'll just hang on to the good part.

Here's the pull quote for LiberalPOV:

"Daniel Schorr, my fellow NPR commentator who died earlier this year, used to talk about the initial shock of finding himself on President Nixon’s enemies list. I can only imagine Dan’s revulsion to realize that today NPR treats a journalist who has worked for them for ten years with less regard, less respect for the value of independence of thought and embrace of real debate across political lines, than Nixon ever displayed."

NPR CEO Vivian Schiller has already had to apologize for her thoughtless remark.

POV wrote-"You post these Bullshit urban legends and Reader and Guy are folish enough to believe witout question."

Why do you think the story is bull? Is it too unbelievable that this kind of thing could happen? Do you believe this story to be made up? Do you think if PC had gone this far that you would have already heard about it on NPR? Well wake up and smell the coffee at least. When you find out the story is true, what are you going to do? Will you face reality? Will you go on saying the story is bull even though it happened? I'd say you are in a pickle.

Sarkazein said...

So POV, are you watching the riots in Utopia on NPR?

Honest Debate said...

Great questions Sark. I found a link for Lib earlier and decided against posting it. What's the point? That would have been too easy, I'm glad you didn't either and I enjoyed every word you chose to respond with.

Mike D. said...

Any guesses as to how much longer Vivian Schiller will hold the position of CEO of NPR in the wake of this 'liberalism as a religion' PR blunder?

She fires the only black man on the air at NPR for saying something that only a person who follows liberalism as a religion could not understand is completely logical and natural, and she hands unquestionable legitimacy to FoxNews on a silver platter while causing potentially irreparable damage to NPR's revenue stream.

She props up FoxNews as a hero of the people, the primary defender of free speech in our country, and she positively identifies herself and her associates as tyrannical oppressors of freedom.

The paradoxical billboard she has slapped across the forehead of herself and her company brings some terms to mind... absurdity... quagmire... catch-22... lose-lose... no win situation.

Juan Williams may be a liberal, but he is a logical, honorable, reasonable liberal, and he does not buy into liberalism as a religion. You see, when liberalism is practiced as a religion, non-believers are persecuted as heretics. Facts that challenge are shouted down, suppressed, and those who speak them are ridiculed, blacklisted. Vivian Schiller is a blind believer. Juan Williams is a proud, intelligent man.

I bet she will be gone within a week, and my gut tells me to expect to read a news story tomorrow morning that she has been fired.

The people have awakened, and I, for one, am very happy about it.

I have read that there has been near 10,000 Muslim terrorist attacks with over 60,000 dead world-wide since 9/11.
If they are not careful they could lose their "religion of peace" handle.

Mike D.,

I'll echo Sark, nice.

Do you think this will awaken the "cut off their funding" giant?

Mike D. said...

At the end of NPR's internal memo on the firing, Vivian Schiller apologizes to member stations, that this should happen during fund-raising week. I hope it takes a huge chunk out of their donations, and I hope that Congressional leaders push hard and fast for de-funding of NPR.

If NPR wants to answer to Chavez and Soros, rather than the American people, I say go for it!

Sarkazein said...

And the tolerant leftist unions. They hate America.

guy faulkes said...

Not only should their public funding be withdrawn, so should their tax exempt status. They should also have to apply for, compete for, and pay for licenses just as any other media outlet does.
