THE BASKIN ROBBINS EDITION - 31 FLAVORS, MOST OF THEM WITH NUTS!

VENT PAGE XXXI

Whenever the number of posts on a vent page make it cumbersome to navigate, a new vent page is started. This is number THIRY ONE in our series. It is the "Baskin Robbins" version and provides for 31 flavors of comments - some of them with nuts!

VENT PAGES are handy for posting of off-topic posts, rants, raves, rages, etc which might not be appropriate on other threads where adults are having serious discussions. Childish rant? Need to call another poster a name? Just feel like spouting off? Or even if you have something to say and there doesn't seem to be any other logical place to say it....THIS PAGE IS FOR YOU!

AND, there are THIRTY ONE days in December!

Coincidence?

I think not!

If true, NewGuy, it is the "thought police" of liberalism.

I agree Sark....and "if true" is an important element.

Here's another great example of what we are becoming!

Our US ATTORNEY GENERAL is suing states that are attempting to enforce immigration laws....but has apparently continued to tolerate "sanctuary cities" and other situations where municipalities flaunt the laws which are unfavorable to illegal immigrants!

I’ll reveal information on Gingrich 'when the time is right'
By Alicia M. Cohn - 12/05/11 11:44 AM ET
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is holding back some information on Republican Newt Gingrich that could detract from his presidential campaign, according to a report published Monday.

“One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.”///

She cares nothing of the country, only politics.

Blogger said...

I would expect Gingrich to get out in front of all this. Unlike the Cain story which the press had to dig out and Cain kept refuting, Gingrich's stuff is all public record by now.

Barney Frank says the Dems want Newt. Yeh, and they wanted Reagan too. As the saying goes "Don't ask for it. You just might get it."

Newt played kissy face with Nancy on the love-seat... this is what he gets in return.

Newt Gingrich said that a threat from ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to disclose information she learned while serving on an ethics committee investigating him during his time as Speaker of the House would "totally abuse the ethics process" and violate rules of the House of Representatives.

"I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift," (Today's The Hill)

MikeD, in the past you have said that you didn't have any trouble posting on the Watch. What do you think now that you have been threatened and said you won't post there anymore? Do you still take up for them?

I did. It's Anonymous.

Too bad. That limits the type of conversation we can have. I am sorry, as you are likely a very nice person, but I have made myself a promise that constructive dialogue is something I will only engage in with people who are willing to adopt a differentiable pseudonym.

So, you want to relate to a personality instead of an issue, Mike D? To bad.

Sark, since you've been so critical of Obama for taking a Christmas vacation that would be the same length as past presidents, and for taking fewer overall vacation days than most past presidents; Here's a story just for you.

President Obama won't go to Hawaii while payroll tax is in limbo

guy faulkes said...

Jack, how many vacation days has Obama taken? Ho many did other specific presidents take in the same time frame? Please list your sources.

Jack- He shouldn't be going on vacation at all. He should be with his lawyers planning his defense at the World Court for suppling weapons to narco-terrorists in Mexico.

Yeah, why would a secret Muslim-Communist-Fascist-Atheist-Kenyan-Socialist-Hispanic take a Christmas break anyway.

Haha, I figured you'd have a negative response ready. The man could singlehandedly cure diabetes and your response would be, "what, ignoring gout? Socialist."

Your party-line predictability is pretty entertaining at this point.

Sarkazein said...

Right Jack. Just give him a pass. You sure don't expect much from him.
So you answer your own question. Why is he not going now if there was nothing wrong with him going in the first place?

I believe this has been posted here before. I may even have posted it. In any case it is worth reading again. I do not know who wrote it.

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

Thanks, Guy,

I had not read that before. My little sister is dating a vet who has come back from Iraq, and I could not be more proud or supportive. Our soldiers who returned from Vietnam were treated like criminals. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to drown out the small minority of loud voices who shout obscenities at the bravest among us. It is our job to make sure that this time, our soldiers know that they are heroes.

If I could make a suggestion... every time I see a soldier out at a bar wearing his uniform or fatigues, I shake his hand, express my appreciation, and buy him a beer immediately. I encourage others to do the same. It may seem like a small thing, but nothing fosters pride more than appreciation from a stranger.

This is just a totally made up lie by bungling government workers--

"In response to ongoing criticism for removing the back brace from an elderly woman who claims Transportation Security Agency (TSA) officers strip-searched her an airport, the TSA issued a "clarification" about their position on the incidents, claiming -- contrary to an earlier TSA statement -- that the woman's back brace was removed because the security personnel thought it was a "money belt."

"There was a bit of a miscommunication and our officers were told that the passenger was wearing a money belt," explains a TSA blogger. "Unlike medical braces and supports, money belts must be removed since they’re not providing any type of medical benefit." Last week, the TSA blog reported that the woman "told the officers that she was wearing a back brace or support belt which required private screening."

In today's update, the TSA acknowledges that the security agents did not return the brace to the woman immediately upon realizing that it was not, in fact, a money belt. "Since the item had already been removed, our officers had it X-rayed and returned it to the passenger who was then clear to travel," the TSA says.

The TSA denied that any strip-search ever took place, adding that they "truly regret that these passengers feel they had a bad screening experience."///
