I am not surprised. I was a poll worker on campus at ASU Student Plemmons Center when the polling site was upstairs across the hall from the computer lab.

A young lady came in from Asheville and said that she had graduated and moved to Asheville 2 years prior and was registered in Watauga County. They gave her a ballot.

Another young lady came in but could not give her address. When asked to describe where she lived, she couldn't. When asked if she had a utility bill that showed her residence, she said no. She was given a ballot. I challenged her vote and a Democrat Party observer called me in to the State Board of Elections and filed a complaint of voter harassment. The State Board didn't pursue the complaint as they disagreed.

A young man came in and voted. Put his ballot in the machine and left. The machine kicked his ballot out. Poll workers changed his ballot and processed it.

On election day, poll workers are supposed to stay within the voting room unless it it to go to the restroom. And, keep in mind, the County taxpayers pay for these volunteer workers. However, at ASU, a professor who worked the polls regularly would leave for hours. This same professor would bring his laptop and work in a side consulting job. He spent a considerable amount of time on his cell phone also. It gets more bazaar. They didn't have but 2 Republicans and 2 Democrats who volunteered so this professor got one of his students to agree to work that day by calling him the night before. This student also had a job. The student had called his employer that morning to let him know that he would be volunteering at the polls. The employer called the student while he was at the polls later that day and was very upset. The student then promised to get a project to the employer and he began to work on his laptop. Oh! It gets betters. This professor and his student were working the poll books while the 1 Republican worker would put the voter id sticker on the voting verification form and the other (yours truly) gave voters a "I voted" sticker.

Then the voting machine broke down one day. The Board of Elections sent a man to ASU with a rplacement "brain". He come up to the table and asks for the other Republican worker (not yours truly of course). The lady explained that she knew nothing about computers and wouldn't make a good witness and recommended that he have me observe. He responded: "I was told to ask for you and that Deborah Greene was not to observe under any circumstances."
Both of us were astounded. I told her that frankly they could have put anything in that brain and I wouldn't know the difference to go ahead because if they have done anything illegal, they did that before they got here.

This same professor I mentioned before consistently talked about Mark Shook and Paula Townsend issue with voters and others during the voting. I finally warned him that if he did it one more time, I would pick up the phone and report him.

Students would frequent the voting place to just chit chat with the professor as would other professors.

Professors would come in with bumper stickers on their clothes.

Observers would help students at the booth.

Finally, rumor has it, that the Board of Elections asked that I not be allowed to work the polls. I understand there was some sort of deal cut. Of course, I can't verify that; I can only say that this is what I was told.

Hence, I am now Unaffiliated.

Last election cycle, Minnesota led the nation in voter fraud convictions, with 113.

If every state had that much fraud, we would have a fraud incidence rate of 0.000024%.

guy faulks said...

You mean Minnesota lead the nation with affirmed voter fraud. As Ms. Greene's post confirms, most attempts at voter fraud are successful. Also, did you bother to watch the video ,George.

A voter I.D. with a current address that was issued from an official source such as a driver's license would go a long way toward correcting this problem. This should not be an issue as both voting and your license have a requirement for a thirty day current residency. You have to be a resident for thirty days to vote and have to have your driver's license updated within thirty days of a move. A state I.D. card should be used if a person has no driver's license.

In 2010, there were more reported UFO sightings than voter fraud convictions.

Maybe we should abandon the voter ID initiative and pump all of our money into SETI.

What money is being spent on voter ID? Anyone opposed to a voter providing proof of who they are when they vote is obviously up to something nefarious.

George would require ID for a library card, but not to vote for the most powerful man on the planet.

Pathetically partisan.

An updated article on Breitbart.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/16/OKeefe-Video-Turns-up-Pressure-on-Governor-Perdue-in-North-Carolina

Guess Purdue and George are feeling the pressure.....

George said...

WH, if we required all voters to obtain a state-issued ID, there would be an increased demand for ID services. Since many of those without IDs are not as mobile as you or I, public transit services would also see increased demand and usage.

In response, we would have to hire more workers and admin-types to effectively handle the increased business. Voter ID law=more bureaucracy and higher gov't spending. Who's "pathetically partisan" now?

The main point is that this is a virtual non-issue. There is so little fraud that it doesn't really merit our major attention. Yes, it can happen. But we shouldn't be throwing large amounts of time and resources at it.

Sarkazein said...

George- We have one Al Franken seated as a US Senator because of voter fraud. It doesn't take much fraud to cause big problems.

guy faulkes said...

You would make any lame argument to try to protect your present fraudulent system, would you not, George?

No one would be prevented from voting except those trying to do so fraudulently.

I have also heard the voter I.D. bill may be bought up again in the short session to in order to override Purdue's veto. Does anyone know anything about this?

George,

You seem concerned about more bureaucracy for making voter IDs. Why no outcry when metal detectors went up at the courthouse? And the deputies it took off the streets to work those detectors. You don't have a problem being treated like a criminal at the courthouse, so why all the worry about a voter ID? LOL!! Tough questions for you liberal socialist sheep ain't it?

That was easy!!!!

George,

So you're saying voter fraud is not a problem? And I suppose you want illegal aliens to vote too don't you. You fringe left socialists are about as stupid as they come. When your children are denied jobs that anchor babies get based on skin color what will you think?

And you must agree with liberal pov that illegal aliens deserve to take American's jobs too, right? Enlighten us about vote ID laws and tell us the real reason you're against voter ID (but for metal detectors). This ought to be interesting.

Folks like George think voting is some kind of joke. I wonder if George would act this smug in front of a war vet who fought hard to give us the right to vote in elections? My bet is that, like all liberal lemmings, he wouldn't until said vet turned to walk away. The back is such a tempting target for cowardly liberals.

Stings don't it

Liberal POVs,

Well, well,my socialists sheep came out to play! What problem is non-existant? Vote fraud exists. So you must mean owning and bearing arms. Your right povs (notice lower case), gun ownership is a non-existant problem that liberals like you try to make something of. LOL!!

Deborah Greene,

You are right on target sister! Sounds like nonymouse has a problem with involved, strong women like us. What you say is truthful, accurate, and well written. You know you've won when the liberal sheep come back with one line quips based purely on emotion with nothing to back it up. It also helps that Deborah Greene doesn't hide behind a screen name like the rest of us. She has the freedom to state facts that nonymouse posters cannot due to their cowardly anonmity. Go Deborah Greene.

Looks like I shut down the liberals on this thread too! Where's Matt by the way. He poohed out pretty quickly. Happily Married, you care to comment on voter fraud and my above posts. Or are you going to act like a liberal socialist sheep and quit? I won.

Voting when you not a citizen or allowed to is a crime. Liberals seem to think it a joke.

PS Time for a vent page. Matt and Happily Dumb need some tuning as do liberal sheriff hagaman and cullie tarleton who support illegal alien gangs over U.S. schoolchildren.

Yes, I see. With nothing to say I might add. All those unanswered posts directed towards you hurt for sure, but don't worry, I expect nothing less from a liberal socialist sheep.

Have you seen the video entitled "No Guns for Negros" yet? What do you think of this captivating production?

And what do you think of illegal aliens voting in North Carolina? This problem must be stopped, and as a supposed Tea Party supporter, you must really be pining for the deportation of illegal aliens.

Enlighten us, please.

So...you want to shut down the ASU Early Voting Site, force Voter ID through, and at the same time win elections in Watauga County....Good luck with that.

The Koch brothers may have figured out the formula for winning, but you neanderthals have not.

socialist liberal sheep? hah.

Johnny, We can answer each others same question over and over if you really want to. My goal was not to be the last one talking in every topic, just get my point across. I dont't really expect to change your views..but we can keep going on if you want.

I have not seen no guns for negros, so I can't comment.

I do think illegal aliens are a problem, voting or not...we will probably agree on most of that.

I guess if you're a Democrat when you die, you're a Democrat FOREVER and continue to vote that way.

Matt,

Fine by me. I will win so I don't recommend it for you.

If we agree on some points, that's fantastic. Like deporting all vile, stinking, diseased illegal aliens. Great Matt, glad to see you support America!

We probably disagree on some other points however. I don't preclude your choices to believe in what you believe. When you offer something I disagree with, especially something that infringes on my persona freedoms, my offensive impulses liberate themselves on this site via literary rancor.

You say you support the 2nd Amendment. You say you don't support illegal aliens. That pretty much sums up my views as well. So why do you disagree with me so much?
