PLEDGE TO AMERICA
Comments:Criticize a public figure regarding their public work only when you have backings in the form of solid citations, quotes or proofs from authority sources. Don’t attack a private citizen by name. Refrain from criticizing an identifiable person repeatedly. Refrain from making false statements about any one. If someone has broken these rules, call it to our attention immediately.
This post is about the publics’ abysmal ignorance regarding mental illness, Ideas brought down from the middle ages and encouraged by an exploitive media industry create cruel stigma. Stigma blocks from treatment, those needing help, including their family and friends.
And finally, this post had nothing to do with what Anonymous wrote.
I tend to agree with Anonymous, Blogger. If you are dangerous, then you are a menace. I beleive that one can be guilty because he is insane or mentally ill. It may not be his fault, but neither is it the fault of the people he hurts.
I fully understand people can be mentally ill, but I also understand people have to protect themselves, be it when the act happens or with actions taken after the fact. I would suppose the likelihood of it happening again would influence these actions.
Should it be hospitalization, prison, or a death sentence in some of these after the fact cases? I do not know, nor do I think anyone else knows. Years ago, I read a study that said lay people in test cases were as effective at determining those who are mentally ill that would commit violence as mental health professionals. In some cases the professionals made mistakes that turned people loose that then went on to hurt other people again, against the advise of the lay people. I have to admit that I do not know if this was a scientific study, but it was well enough written that I have remembered it.
The one thing I do know is you cannot ignore them or this kind of thing will keep happening.
Do you think people have the right to protect themselves from the violent menially ill? How would you do it?

A person is responsible for his actions, even if he is mentally ill, drunk, or whatever. If you did it, you did it. End of story.
