"THE SHOTGUN" (From my email)

You're sound asleep when  you hear  a thump outside your  bedroom door.

Half-awake, and nearly  paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled  whispers.

At least two people have  broken into your house and are moving your  way.

With your heart pumping,  you reach down beside your bed and pick up your  shotgun.

You rack a shell into  the chamber, then inch toward the door and open  it...

In the darkness, you  make out two  shadows.
One holds something that  looks like a  crowbar.

When the intruder  brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the  shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both  thugs to the  floor.

One writhes and screams  while the second man crawls to the front  door

and lurches  outside.

As you pick up the  telephone to call police, you know you're in  trouble.

In your country, most guns  were outlawed years  before,
and the few that are  privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make  them useless..

Yours was never  registered..
Police arrive and inform  you

that the second burglar has  died.

They arrest you for First Degree  Murder

and  Illegal Possession of a  Firearm.

When you talk to your attorney,  he tells you not to worry:
authorities will probably plea the case  down to manslaughter.

"What kind of sentence will I  get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve  years,"

he  replies, as if that's  nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be  out in seven."

The  next day, the shooting is the  lead

story in the local  newspaper.

Somehow, you're portrayed as an  eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are  represented as choirboys.
Their friends and relatives  can't find an unkind word to say about  them..

Buried deep down in the article,  authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been  arrested numerous times.

But  the next day's headline says it  all:

"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't  Deserve to Die."

The  thieves have been transformed from career criminals into  Robin Hood-type  pranksters..

As  the days wear on, the story takes  wings.

The  national media picks it  up,

then the international  media.
The  surviving burglar has become a folk  hero.

Your attorney says the thief is  preparing  to sue you, and he'll probably  win.

The  media publishes reports that your home has been  burglarized several times in the past and
that you've  been critical of local police for their  lack

of  effort in apprehending the  suspects.

After the last break-in, you  told your neighbor that you would be prepared next  time.
The  District Attorney uses this to  allege

that you were lying in wait for  the burglars.

A  few months later, you go to  trial.

The  charges haven't been  reduced,

as  your lawyer had so confidently  predicted.

When you take the stand, your anger at

the  injustice of it all works against  you..

Prosecutors paint a picture of  you

as  a mean, vengeful man.

It  doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all  charges.

The  judge sentences you to life in  prison.

This case really  happened.

On  August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk ,  England, killed one burglar and wounded a  second.

In  April, 2000, he was convicted  and  is now serving a life  term..

How  did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the  once great British Empire   ?
It  started with the Pistols Act of  1903.

This seemingly reasonable law  forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and
established that handgun sales were to be made only to  those who had a license.

The Firearms Act of 1920
expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all  firearms except shotguns..

Later laws passed in 1953 and  1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and
mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for total handgun  confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass  shooting in 1987.

Michael  Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the street shooting everyone he  saw.
When the  smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.

The British  public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun  control", demanded even tougher restrictions.
(The  seizure of all privately owned handguns was the  objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)

Nine years  later, at Dunblane, Scotland,

Thomas Hamilton used a  semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a  teacher at a public school.

For many  years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as  mentally unstable, or worse, criminals.

Now the  press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding  gun owners.

Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a  total ban on all handguns.

The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm's

still owned by private  citizens.

During the  years in which the British government incrementally took  away most gun rights,
the notion that a citizen had the  right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism.

Authorities refused to grant gun  licenses to people who were threatened,
claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.

Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or  rapists were charged while the real criminals were  released.

Indeed,  after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted  as saying,

"We cannot have people take the law into  their own hands."

All of Tony
Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times,
and several elderly people were severely injured in  beatings by young thugs
who had no fear of the  consequences.
Martin himself, a collector of  antiques,
had seen most of his collection
trashed or stolen by  burglars.

When the  Dunblane Inquiry ended,
citizens who owned handguns
were given three months to turn them over to local  authorities.

Being good  British subjects,
most people obeyed the law.
The few who didn't were visited by police
and  threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't  comply.

Police  later bragged that they'd taken
nearly 200,000  handguns from private citizens.

How did the authorities know who  had handguns?
The guns had been registered and  licensed.
Kind of like cars. Sound  familiar?

WAKE UP AMERICA;
THIS IS  WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IN OUR  CONSTITUTION.

"...It does not require a  majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless  minority keen to set brush fires in people's  minds.."

--Samuel  Adams

You had better wake up, because  Obama is  doing this very same thing, over here, if he can get it  done.

And there  are stupid people in congress and on the street that will go right along with  him.

Once again we are subjected to the meanderings of a person that does not even know what an assault rifle is.

New Guy you are correct. Obama is trying to use this tragedy to violate our civil rights. One of the problem is that no one even knows what weapons wee used. The Obama Administration says it was a semi-automatic .223 (this is not an assault rifle). The medical examiners are saying everyone killed was hit with bullets of this caliber, even if they were not recovered in the bodies. This is complicated by the current news articles saying that four handguns were used because these were all that were found in the school and the rifle was left in the car. There is apparently a video of the rifle being removed from the trunk.

All we know about this incident is that the investigation has not been very transparent. It is a political circus.

So was the incident at Waco. hopefully they will not keep reporters out until they bulldoze the school like they did the building in Texas.

Welcome back, New Guy you have been missed.

Here is a link about the four handguns. It also said the guy had an "altercation" with four staff members at the school before the shooting.

I started to contact all my elected representatives to encourage them to uuphold my 2nd Amendment Rights in the fact of outright confiscation which is being called for by some politicians. I stopped. I ask the few other true conservatives on this site to stop as well. It gets tiring doing the work all of the time.

Let's put the burden, for once, on all the apathatic so-called conservatives who have never lifted a finger towards this cause. Let them lose their rights due to apathy. Conservatives are zombies right now, and perhaps they do need someone coming into their home, sitting them and their family down on their own sofa, in handcuffs, while their possessions are confiscated.

Judging from the lack of response by even one so-called conservative, this would suit you idiots to a tee. I actually hope it happens to you dolts. Heck, if you would allow illegal aliens to take your jobs, then why not allow Diane Feinstien to come into your home and take your property? The only reason you wouldn't turn them in yourself is your too apathetic and lazy to drive to the police station! Idiots.

Colin Powell is a republican. I bet he supports the right to keep and bear arms, don't you think? LOL!! Better quit relying on establishment republicans as guardians of your rights folks. Go conservative and make a difference.

Sarkazein said...

Guy Faulkes- if the information in your above link pans out, it won't make a bit of difference to the Left. It will not slow them down or make them even hesitate. The Left is going after total control over the individual by government.

Feinstein's proposed legislation goes after handguns too and registration and finger printing of all owners of the weapons they want to eventually be able to seize and or tax. "Never let a crisis go to waste." The US Senate and President will sign the UN treaty regarding guns.

Here's an article Sark about the proposed gun bans.

The 20th century saw millions of people killed by their own governments AFTER they enacted gun control.

It appears the 21st century is heading in the same direction.

guy faulkes said...

Rico you can not just give up. Call your representatives and if you feel they deserve it, give them hell. Some say it would be counterproductive to do this, but it will certainly get their attention.

The problem with burn out is that if somebody does not carry the water, the house burns down. Maybe this is just another step that has to be gone through in order to come back out of the ashes, but unlike not having a viable candidate to support, there is a choice on this issue.

Johnny Rico said...

My, my my...we have a reply to the anti-gun letter to the editor in High Country Press. And of all people to address the issue it was Craig Dudley. Conservatives wouldn't address it, republitards wouldn't address it, and hunters wouldn't address it. Instead, so called conservatives have to rely on Craig Dudley.

Not that Dudley isn't worthy. He is. He always espouses his own viewpoint, out in the open, to the point of being visited by the Secret Service. The problem is so called conservative cowards who should be replying to the anti-gun rant in High Country Press instead hide behind someone who sometimes exhibits liberal tendencies. Dudley has done your work for you. Shameful.

I agreed with everything Dudley said (except his views on Israel) in his well written article. He stated the case that guns were not the problem in the Conneticut shooting. Great job Mr. Dudley.

Too bad the so called conservatives/republitards in this county refuse to back you up Mr. Dudley on an issue they claim to hold dear. If it weren't for folks like you, so called conservatives would be blubbering about losing their freedoms.

Craig Dudley is a greater patriot than 99.9999999 percent of Watauga County so-called conservatives. Do you jester conservatives have an ounce of pride or intelligence or are you too busy getting ready to watch football this weekend?

Again, great job to Craig Dudley for upholding the Constitution and showing the extreme complacency, laziness, and immorality of stupid so called conservatives. Hats off to you sir.

Wolf's Head- The most telling part of your linked article above is the fact that government agencies are buying/hoarding huge amounts of ammo. The first NAZI like disarming of the peasants will be done through ammo. Anything is possible. Ammo could be sold only through government agencies as alcohol is in Virginia with the ABC stores (if they are still there). The Leftists government will attempt to bring the boil up slowly. But, yes, it may still cause a revolution amongst certain states. Other states will bask in their false sense of security hanging on the tit of their nanny.

Johnny Rico said...

I see no Watauga County jester conservatives have anything to say about my Craig Dudley post. Not surprising. Now you people have moderate liberals doing the fighting for you! Amazing incompetence on the part of so called conservatives. You lunch is being taken and eaten by your soon to be masters ever day and yet you DO NOTHING! What a bunch of dolts.

Pittman-Robertson Fund. The Pittman-Roberston Wildlife Conservation fund is a tax on guns, ammunition and some hunting equipment (11% I think) used to fund conservation programs for wildlife. With the burgeoning sales of guns over the past 4 years, why hasn't the liberal news media reported on this flush fund? Reporting anything positive in regards to guns or hunting isn't within the agenda of the hussein obama administration or the liberal news media. Typical.

President Billary Clinton raided the Pittman Robertson fund in the 90s causing legislation to be passed making Pittman-Roberston funds off limits to executive czars. My bet is hussein obama (notice lower case) is already raiding that fund which is why everyone is so quiet about it.

With billions upon billions of dollars of guns and ammo sold over the past 4 years, it stands to reason that 11% of those billions are in the Pittman-Roberston Fund right now. Unless of course the money grubbing, entitlement oriented, socialist spenders in office right now have their eyes set on it. What do you liberal socialist sheep think? LOL!

If hussein obama dips into Pittman-Roberston will the liberal news media or liberals in general say anything about it? My bet is a resounding NO. Liberals would like to see wildlife programs run to ground rather than cut off illegal aliens or lazy americans from money they have no right to.

And what will so called conservatives do when they find out that obummer has spent Pittman-Robertson funds on illegal aliens? Nothing.

Ask your elected representatives about Pittman Robertson and see what they say. Richard Burr has been as quiet as a peep mouse since the last election. If Burr won't stand up for sportsmen and women from government abuse within his district (Blowing Rock Land Grab) then why would he stand up for others nationwide. Typical establishment Republican.

Pittman Robertson funds should be shown on a billboard in every sporting goods store so sportsmen and women can understand their hard earned money is being spent on wildlife. Why hasn't this been considered?

Excellent point about the Pittman / Robertson act, Rico. I will contact Foxx and Burr to see what they have to day. I would contact Hagan, but what would be the use? You could not trust what she would tell you. Unfortunately, the question in my mind is starting to be whether you can trust what any of them tell you.

Dudley did write a pretty good letter to the HCP. However, he has always been pro gun, even though he was such a fanatical liberal the he was visited by government agents for making threats against Bush.

Frankly, I pretty much quit writing letters to news organizations,as they always seemed to be "edited for lenght" (even if they were short) or did not get published. I find it better to use blogs such as this one. Even those that just read the posts and do not answer any of them are more motivated than the average person reading a newspaper. This particularly includes hunters, who are, as a group, the most apathetic people I know.

A friend of mine that attended the gun show in Hickoery says that the price of an AR has gone up by about a thousand dollars, that .223 ammo has gone up about 25%, that accessories for the AR configurations have risen sharply and that people were buying all of them to the pint they were flying out the door. The line to get into the building stretched three quarters of the way around the building and it is a big building.

Obama is a great gun salesman, is he not?

On a side note, prices for handguns may have fallen slightly.

Here's what hussein obummer (notice lower case) says about placing armed guards in schools:

"Obama in the interview said that he hoped to involve all “stakeholders” in the national debate over gun violence, but he expressed unease with the NRA’s proposal.

“I am not going to prejudge the recommendations that are given to me. I am skeptical that the only answer is putting more guns in schools. And I think the vast majority of the American people are skeptical that that somehow is going to solve our problem,” he said."

The school his daughter attends has armed security guards (11 of them) as well as 2 full time Secret Service Agents assigned to his daughters. Funny how this dolt of a president thinks your children shouldn't be privy to armed guards whilst his are.

Hypocrisy is a companion of the liberal.

I thought the liberals said hussein obama supports the 2nd Amendment. Only after he becomes a lame duck President we see what he really thinks about the 2nd Amendment. This is from his interview on Meet the Press:

"“I've been very clear that an assault-rifle ban, banning these high capacity clips, background checks, that there are a set of issues that I have historically supported and will continue to support,” the president said."

I never thought he was "very clear" on assault weapons. In fact, in 2008 the assault weapons ban was removed from the President's election campaign website. Why is is pushing it now all of a sudden if he didn't always have tendencies for abolishment of the 2nd Amendment?

Jester conservatives. What do you plan to do about the president's plans to enslave you? His Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsak(sp?) says the administration intends to support hunting with all future gun control proposals. Again, the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting now does it. It has to do with a balance of power. Yes, a balance of power. Sadly, due to apathetic hunters and jester conservatives, this balance of power my be lost.

Still waiting to hear something, anything, from jester conservatives.

The amount of government regulations is increasing with exponential rapidity. What will be the breaking point in which burdensome regulations, combined with unsustainable government spending on entitlement programs, causes things to break? Anyone care to venture a guess?

Will it be the gun issue which this thread speaks to or will it be some other issue? I believe it will start with the 2nd Amendment. If Patriots in this country rise against the tide of socialism and disobey anti-2nd Amendment regulations, it might start something. Then again, with the apathy disease which runs rampant within our local community here, they might give up without a whisper.

Joe Biden leads the white house (notice lower case) effort on gun control. Here is what joe biden says about gun control:

"Mr. Biden was at the White House when the Newtown massacre occurred. With the shootings coming just days before the 40th anniversary of the car accident that killed his first wife and baby daughter, an aide said, “all he could think about was those parents getting the same devastating phone call” that he once did.

After Mr. Obama assigned him to develop a response, Mr. Biden followed his 1990s script, inviting law enforcement leaders to the White House to harness their ideas and public credibility. “I’ve been in Washington over 20 years, and this was unique,” said Chuck Wexler, the executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum. “There is a sense of importance and urgency to this issue.”

Ms. Feinstein plans to reintroduce the assault weapons bill with a more inclusive definition, banning even those with just “one or more military characteristics.” It identifies 120 guns by name whose manufacture and sale would be banned, and it would outlaw certain modifications used to bypass the last law."

Here's the link to the New York Times article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/30/us/politics/newtown-task-force-returns-biden-to-gun-control-arena.html?pagewanted=2&_r=0&ei=5065&partner=MYWAY

Where's the outrage from so called conservatives?

Johnny Rico said...

Diane Feinstein just outlined her assault weapons ban and how law abiding citizens of the country would be forced to register their rifles and shotguns, be fingerprinted, photographed and treated like criminals. She said we have no business hunting with assault weapons and that assault weapons aren't good for home defense!! She then went on to say that the AR-15 can be made into a fully automatic weapon (highly illegal) by subsituting a part. Funny, I've never seen one of these "parts" for sale, ever.

I hunt with a semi-automatic rifle. I use a semi-automatic rifle for home defense. Both of these scenarios are not covered by the 2nd Amendment which exists to keep a BALANCE of POWER in this country. We now have politicians in this country openly advocating for the confiscation and registration of our weapons. They do this because they are emboldened by the apathy of conservatives. They might well succeed.

If a politician had went on TV 10 years ago and told you she intended on taking your weapons the outcry would've been deafening.

Amazing!!!! America is capitulating before our eyes!!!!! What a bunch of dolts!!!!

Again, jester conservatives, how will you service your liberal masters? POV probably wants his car washed (the one bought with your tax money under some program)so get your soap and water ready. He may want you to wave palm fronds to cool him off this summer too. Be sure to bring seedless grapes to feed him while cooling him off. To the victors go the spoils. Bring your underage daughter for his amusement as well. Jester conservatives, get ready - your masters are calling!!! LOL!!

Look at this quote by none other than Ghandi regarding the dangers of gun control:

"Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." - Mohandas Gandhi, an Autobiography, page 446."

The reason I post this is because Facebook banned this quote and shutdown a user's account from Facebook. If you place this quote on Facebook, they will suspend your account too. Here's a link for liberals too lazy to find it themselves (all of them):
http://www.naturalnews.com/038484_Gandhi_quote_Facebook_censorship.html

Liberals, where's the outrage? I thought you dolts hated corporate America. Facebook is corporate America, right? So where's the collective outrage?

Reminds me of when Wells and Fargo wouldn't approve a loan for a mom and pop gun manufacturer a few weeks back (discussed on this site). There was NO outrage from liberals. In fact, liberals on this site defended Wells and Fargo - a large BANK/EVIL CORPORATION. Amazing ignorance and incompetance!!!!!! Hypocrisy squared
