USA'S Best Congressperson on Fiscal Cliff Legislation

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) tonight issued the following statement after opposing the Senate fiscal cliff deal, H.R. 8, that ignores America’s debt crisis while growing the size of government:
“Since May House Republicans have acted in good faith to generate ideas to avert the fiscal cliff. Our balanced proposals have been designed to protect American jobs and begin the hard work of overcoming America’s debt crisis. Thus, I could not in good conscience vote for a Senate “deal” that delays savings while expanding spending subsidies, ignoring the real drivers of debt, and using harmful new taxes as justification for government growth.
“The process of resolving the fiscal cliff has been ugly. The Senate received H.R. 8 from the House of Representatives on August 1 of 2012. But the Senators waited until December 31 to weigh in on the legislation. The proposal they finalized in the early hours of January 1, though deeply flawed, does clear up uncertainty for families and small businesses trying to prepare for the future. I am glad for that, but feel for the many job creators who will face a higher tax burden in yet another year of tepid economic recovery.
“Regardless of the complexity of any manufactured Washington crisis, I will continue to be guided by principle. As a defender of taxpayers, I hold the United States government to a standard of spending your hard-earned money minimally and wisely. That means new government spending must be off-set.
“Washington rhetoric cannot mask the fact that the country’s debt crisis and consequent fiscal cliff are symptoms of the larger problem of uncontrollable government spending. 2012 yielded the third highest annual tax revenue in American history. Sadly, government spending was just as historic. Unless spending is reined in and trillion dollar deficits become a thing of the past, no level of tax increases will solve the problem.
“Rather than fixating on Clinton-era tax rates, the President and Senate Democrats would better serve the country working to shrink the federal government to a Clinton-era size. America’s catastrophic national debt demands it. The debt clock is ticking.”
From May to December, Foxx cast six separate affirmative votes on H.Con.Res. 112, H.R. 8 (prior to Senate amendments), H.R. 9, H.R. 6684, H.R. 6365, and H.R. 5652 to either avert the fiscal cliff or stop the defense sequester.
The Senate amendments to H.R. 8 passed the House of Representatives on the evening of January 1. If signed by the President, its provisions will apply retroactively to December 31.

I must protest! There is no such word as " Congressperson".

The proper term is "Congressman".

"Congressperson" is a term used by pu**ywhipped politically correct sycophants.

However, I believe that Congressman Foxx is the best we have in Congress.

Congressman Foxx read my truth posts and realized conservatives were watching. She then did the right thing and voted to give liberty and freedom back to the citizens where it belongs. Very good job Congressman Foxx. You did a great thing last night. Too bad your fellow Representatives didn't take heed of the damage this bill will do.

Jester conservatives. The reason you need to come out of your shell and get involved is evidenced here on this site. One conservative (me) made a difference. Foxx saw an involved Conservative and voted on our side because of it. If you don't get off your collective rear ends, the next vote will be to take YOUR gun rights.

Again, take your heads out of the sand and start holding your Representatives accountable like I've done the past two weeks.

Again, I'm tired of fighting your fights for you.

Congresswoman Foxx. The upcoming gun control measure must be defeated. Conservatives must never vote for gun control. Gun control is people control.

Jester conservatives. Despite your listless, uninspired stance on everything, I can't help but fight the good fight. Faulks was right. But that doesn't mean I will let you idiots off the hook very easily. Let me ask you lazy slugs a question. Do you put this much energy into raising your children? If so, your listless zombie spawn will be working for POVs children. What do you so called conservatives think of that?

Ms. Foxx, despite the lazy conservatives of this county, there are a few of us who still carry the torch. It gets tiring, but we do it nonetheless. All free citizens of this country won't benefit from any gun control. Please be reminded of this and try and talk to your fellow Representatives to ensure we remain a free people. Thank you.

From another blog:

Lesson # 1:

* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts so far: $38.50

Got It ??.......OK now,

Lesson # 2:
Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:

Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do ......

Raise the ceilings, or remove the crap?

If Virginia Foxx continues to vote conservative, she will indeed be our best Congressperson. Let's take a look at how Representative Coble answered a letter asking him to support the 2nd Amendment:

"Dear Mr. Street:

Thank you for contacting our office to share your views regarding the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. We appreciate hearing from you.

There is no remedy for an innocent life that has been taken by the misuse of a firearm. The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School is a painful and saddening reminder about the very real threat that is posed by gun violence.

The Second Amendment clearly provides a constitutional right to keep and bear arms but that does not trump the authority of the government to maintain public safety, particularly for children. Although the federal government has an important role regulating the use of guns, most criminal statutes are imposed by state governments. Unfortunately, criminal statutes oftentimes are not enough to stop gun violence, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts have some of the strongest gun laws in the country, but they also experience high numbers of gun-related crimes.

I believe that the right to bear arms must be exercised responsibly and that the tragedy at Sandy Hook should not be overlooked. Federal and state governments should work together to develop comprehensive policies that will update the manner in which we address gun violence and mental illness. It's clear that stringent laws are not enough to eliminate gun violence, and at the same time, it is obvious that more regulations alone will not ensure our safety from gun violence in the future.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We will be sure to keep them in mind should relevant legislation be considered. In the meantime, please feel free to contact our office if we may be of assistance in the future.

Sincerely,

HOWARD COBLE
Member of Congress

Coble's letter is particularly disturbing. The following portion of the letter shows he is a RINO of the highest order:

"The Second Amendment clearly provides a constitutional right to keep and bear arms but that does not trump the authority of the government to maintain public safety, particularly for children"

The 2nd Amendment does indeed trump the authority of the government to maintain public safety. The lawsuit in King N.C. regarding confiscation of weapons during a state of emergency judicially shows that government authority to regulate weapons is subservient to the 2nd Amendment. Using children as an excuse to enslave Americans is the mark of a communist and a coward.

Write Representative Coble and express your displeasure at his attempt to circumvent the Constitution. Let him know he will be voted out the next chance we get unless he gets on board very quickly.

Also write Virginia Foxx and let her know we expect her to vote for the people; not the government.

Howard Coble voted yes on the Fiscal Cliff bill as well. He is a RINO republitard who will sell you out in a second if it gets him re-elected to his cushy govt. job.

The apathy of conservatives allows dolts like Coble to exist. Vote Coble out of office and write him a letter telling him so.

Virginia Foxx can't do it alone folks. With idiots like Representative Coble sitting on the fence, it won't be long until you have no rights left to fight for. Get you heads out of the sand and get your arses into the fight!!!! Fight!!!!! Write Coble and any other politicians you can think of and demand they uphold the Constitution.

Also, write Dan Soucek and Johnathan Jordan and ask them to contact Coble with your concerns. State level representative carry some weight with Congressmen.

Onward to victory we go..!!!!!!!!

The media is teamng up with politicians like NYC Mayor Michael Bloomburg to take your 2nd Amendment Rights. Bloomburg met with Gabby Giffords yesterday for an hour to talk gun control. Giffords, an owner of semi-automatic assault weapons, apparently now supports gun control. Typical hypocritical politician.

Contact Virginia Foxx, Johnathan Jordan, and Dan Soucek and let them know this is one of the most important times in American history. Liberty can survive an ecomonic meltdown, obamacare and socialist proposals. It cannot survice abolishment of the 2nd Amendment. Remember, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting. It never was and never will be.

The 2nd Amendment is about a balance of power. When that balance is upset, look out. The government, unrestrained by an armed populace, is dangerous. There are still those alive today who witness a modern, advanced government disarm them and then proceed to murder 7 million people. Your granddad may have been one who survived Jewish genocide or one who perished. Gun control, except in the Warsaw Ghetto, was the start of such depredations.

Lazy conservatives, wake up for once and get involved. One big push and we put this monster to bed for several years. More apathy will give you unimaginable tradgedy.

We need Virginia Foxx to be a watchdog for gun rights. As liberals take control of cities like Ashville and Boone, they will work to take your rights away. This excerpt from Ashville City Council:

In one of the most ridiculous knee-jerk political reactions to recent shootings which have drawn national attention, Asheville City Councilman Cecil Bothwell led an attempt this week to use an Asheville city ordinance that bans guns from city-owned property to block gun shows in the city. Bothwell seems to think that distorting this ordinance should be just the ticket to capitalize on national grief over the Newtown shootings in order to change gun laws, but there are a couple of major issues he failed to recognize before stepping into the limelight with his scheme.

State-wide uniformity of local regulations

One such issue Councilman Bothwell failed to take into consideration is that North Carolina General Statute §14409.40, “Statewide uniformity of local regulation,” states, in part:

“(d) No county or municipality, by zoning or other ordinance, shall regulate in any manner firearms shows with regulations more stringent than those applying to shows of other types of items.”

What this means is that gun shows may not be regulated any differently than any other type of show that is allowed to use the same facilities. In other words, if they wanted to ban gun shows, they would have to ban virtually any other kind of show from the property. State law prevents any county or municipality from treating gun shows any differently than an antique show or an agricultural event.

City or State owned?

One other issue that Councilman Bothwell and other city council members failed to understand is that the facility in question, the WNC Agricultural Center, is not owned by the city of Asheville! That’s right, the WNC Agricultural center is state-owned property, operated by the state. In their blind zeal to remove your rights as gun owners through any scheme they can cook up, the Asheville City Council is trying to enforce a city ordinance which bans guns on city property in a building which is actually owned by the State of North Carolina! What’s more, the WNC Agricultural Center isn’t even located inside Asheville city limits!

Johnny Rico said...

Who would've ever thought the mountain city of Ashville would turn liberal. It has. And the liberals that have invaded Ashville are out to change Ashville into a replica of the cesspool city they originally hailed from! Makes no sense does it? Move from a cesspool to a utopia and then change said utopia into a likeness of the cesspool you fled. WTF?

Liberalism is a disease. At any rate, the same thing is happening in Watauga County. Virginia Foxx represents Watauga County residents and so far this year (not during the Blowing Rock Land Grab) she has done an excellant job in stopping the creeping threat of liberalism.

She can't do it alone. Will so called conservatives in Watauga County stand with Foxx or allow her to do it alone? The three or four Patriots on this site have been going alone for awhile now. Jester conservatives need to get going or Ashville policies will be here in Watauga County within a couple years.

Will you lazy dolts let it happen?

This ain't looking so good especially since so many RINO Republitards caved on the fiscal cliff fisasco.

The question is, what will YOU do about it folks? Any plans to fight this one or will you remain on the sidelines?

Better get off your butts and start DOING SOMETHING.

I do not know if it is necessary to send Ms. Foxx this letter, but it is for Burr and Hagan. I got it from another blog. It was written after the exposure of the fact that McCain and some other leftist Republicans may be going to aid the Democrats in stopping a filibuster in the Senate. Biden has promised Senate passage by the end of the moth. As the other blog indicated, so much for trusting either party.

I will not vote for those who support Gun Bans, Gun Magazine Bans, etc...

I'm writing this as a concerned, law-abiding, tax-paying, voting citizen...who like all Americans was very upset by the senseless deaths at Sandy Hook school. However, as terrible as that tragedy was, a worse tragedy is the knee jerk reaction of our government and media just emotional clamoring for more gun control!

I oppose any more gun / ammo restrictions. Passing more gun laws will have no effect on criminals because by definition, criminals don't follow laws, they break them. If guns are banned outright, criminals will still get them…it'll just be an item on their shopping list to check off as they prepare for their next unlawful act. If not a gun, then a pipe bomb, or dynamite, or fertilizer/kerosene, or military weapons on the black market and on and on and on. More "gun laws" are no more effective than "Prohibition" was trying to outlaw the sale of alcohol. Same with illegal drugs…they're readily available in spite of massive laws against them.
Laws of any kind only affect, inconvenience, suppress us law abiding citizens, not criminals.

Criminals know that violent gun crimes cause more restrictive gun laws, which only makes law abiding citizens weaker and the criminals know that.
This just sets the stage for more violence by armed criminals against
unarmed defenseless law abiding citizens. Conversely, in states where
"concealed carry" has been in effect for several years, the rate of violent gun crimes has plummeted. Allowing law abiding citizens to arm themselves, and to eliminate gun-free-zones like theaters and schools is the way to reduce the incident rate of these terrible shootings…the reason they always happen in gun-free-zones is because criminals know they are
gun-free-zones !!!

I find it disgusting that the idea of putting armed police / security officers in every school is scoffed at by the very people that have that security and safety at their own children's schools...as well as their own armed guard escorts. The children of Presidents, members of Congress, Hollywood celebrities, and the news media are no more valuable or important than anyone else's children. The elite have that security…and so should all US citizens and students

continued;

My campaign donations and voting activity will continue to be geared towards those who stand 100% behind the belief in the rights and freedom of citizens in our country, supported by the obvious intent and purpose of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I've served in the military to protect our country like our fore-fathers before us, but have not raised a hand in anger to a fellow citizen in my lifetime. I resent the fact that some tiny fraction of less than 1% of the population causes knee jerk reactions by lawmakers to keep passing more laws which suppress the livelihood of the rest of us…without doing a thing to improve the situation. Indeed, during the years of the Clinton ban on 'high capacity
magazines', mass shootings actually INCREASED in our country.

Rest assured I will be following the votes taken on gun control and I will cast my own vote accordingly...along with every other voter I can influence...in every election thereafter to see that only pro-gun candidates get elected. AND REMEMBER: GUNS don't kill people...PEOPLE kill people. Deal with the people aspect of this instead of just passing more and more laws on inanimate objects that harm nobody.
I trust that you see the obvious logic in this and won't simply cast your vote on the basis of politics as usual…the time is overdue where we need leaders in government, not party followers.

Sincerely,

I would also add eliminating gun free school zones and the need for federal reciprocity in concealed carry permits.

Looks like POV is unable to add anything other than the broken record syndrome. Typical for liberal sheep! LOL!!!

POV, you had some issues with your parents, we know. Did they instill the entitlement mentality you espouse now or was it a simple lack of discipline? Just curious. Don't want to bring up bad memories or anything, but it's a simple question since we are talking about family values. LOL!!

Faulks,that's a great letter. I think Ms. Foxx would benefit as well as she might share such sentiments with other fence sitting politicians.

Speaking of fence sitters, you mentioned John Mccain. McCain once came out in favor of an assault weapons ban in the 1990s. Then, in 2008 when he was running for President, he had a change of heart. In the following interview with Outdoor Life, McCain says he couldn't imagine a scenario in which he would support future restrictions on assault weapons:

http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gun-shots/2008/05/john-mccain-assault-weapons-ban

Then fast forward to 2012,right after the Aurora, Colorado shooting, and we have McCain saying he would be open to an assault weapons ban. He has said the same after the Sandy Hook shooting in which victims were killed in a gun free zone because teachers were denied the ability to protect children.

I though John McCain was a Maverick? Seems to me he is a fence sitting moderate liberal no better than Hussein Obama or Nancy Pelosi. McCain also voted for the fiscal cliff bill which raises taxes and increases spending. What a RINO.

Good thing Virginia Foxx is looking out for Watauga County residents. RINOs sure aren't.

Conservatives jesters, get off your butts and get going.
