Obamacare Will Raise NC Insurance Premiums by 61%

It's probably no surprise to those of us who don't believe in Santa Claus and have found out that there is no such thing as a free lunch! Yep....when you require insurance companies to provide benefits they didn't provide previously; when you insist that "children" up to age 26 are added to insurance plans: when you require insurance companies to accept new customers who may already be in dire health- then there is a cost
involved. Insurance companies, in order to pay out additional benefits and to insure previously uninsured people will naturally have to raise their premiums to cover those costs. That seems to be the conclusion of 3 congressional coimmittee studies.

"Remember that repetitive presidential promise to “cut the cost of a typical family’s premium by up to $2,500 a year”? As 2014 and full implementation of Obamacare get closer, it is crystal clear that won’t be the case.
Obamacare’s most onerous insurance regulations will directly cause insurance premiums to skyrocket, particularly in the individual and small group markets."

Thankfully, a topic not about gay marriage. I've suspected since 2009 that Obamacare was intentionally crafted to wreak havoc in the private health care field. People will then cry out for government to fix a problem created by government, but they will not be informed enough to realize it. Obamacare is just a stepping stone to single payer health care as in Canada or Britain.

We have at least one Doctor in Boone who is closing his medical practice because of the cuts in reimbursements. We have seen several articles about companies notifying employees that they will no longer provide health insurance. Some companies reducing full time employees to part time in order to avoid Obamacare mandates!

People who buy health insurance in order to cover them from a catastrophic loss in case of a major medical issue, can no longer buy a simple, affordable policy. Now any policy you buy must include a laundry list of things that the government thinks you need. Want to pay your routine medical bills yourself and just have protection from major expenses? Can't do it anymore. Now your policy has to include full price reimbursement for birth control items!

You want a Smart Car health insurance policy, but the govt says you must have a Cadillac!

My WAP (Wild A** Prediction):

Obamacare, or at least it's major components, will be repealed with Democrat help in 2014 to save their careers after the disaster takes effect.

Called my doctor for an appointment. In the past it was a next day affair. This time he said it would be a week. When asked, he said the new paper work was causing him to cut five appointments a day.

Readers feel free to use this thread to tell your horror stories regarding Obamacare.

My cousin has an crippling disease that is fatal without a very expensive medication. According to her, Medicare sent her a notice that they would no longer pay for the medication. This decision was being appealed. I do not know the current status.

A friend of mine works in a doctor's office. Because of cuts to Medicare in order to fund Obamacare, doctors receive less from Medicare than it costs to see medicare patients, let alone make any kind of profit. For this reason they are no longer accepting medicare patients. Thanks, Obama and all his supporters.

End the government takeover of Medicare and Obamacare now! The government has no business in healthcare! You can see what happens when the government tries to intervene in the free market.

Cuts in Medicare will have to be made up by supplementary private insurance policies. Medicare recipients will end up paying more per month than a 21 year old. What was the point in the deduction for Medicare all these decades.

End Medicare now. We can't afford it. It's broke, I'd just assume stop paying for a program I'll never ever see. The government shouldn't be in the business of healthcare.

Anonymous 7:26 PM- You are right. Health care prices have skyrocketed since the government started Medicare and Medicaid. They force us at gun point to participate, make-ing prices go up to where few can afford it, then go broke. The bandits that started it are all retired or passed and no one claims responsibility. Obamacaretax is now a double-down effort to collapse it all together, then take it over and offer half the service at twice the tax. Like Sushi, half the fish for twice the price.
