GOP lawmakers, who have enough votes to pass the measure, disclosed a schedule that will begin with a public hearing on March 12 followed by two House committee meetings in which expert testimony will be heard. The bill will likely be introduced in late March and voted on by the House in mid-April. (See Christensen article in Charlotte Observer)
Meanwhile, we learn that the chairman of the state Board of Elections illegally allowed thousands of "on line" registrations prior to the 2012 elections. Other members of the Elections Board were unaware of this and were not informed. From a statement by State Senator Thom Goolsby:
Election Board’s Outrageous Conduct Requires Action
Senator Thom Goolsby
For all those who scream, “There is no voter fraud in North
Carolina!” the silence was deafening after the latest revelation from
the State Board of Elections (SBOE) regarding online voter registration
during the 2012 election season.Four of the five members of the SBOE recently learned that the Obama campaign registered up to 11,000 “voters” in North Carolina via a remote registration system. Although North Carolina law does not allow online voter registration, Gary Bartlett, director of the SBOE, unilaterally approved a method that allowed users to fill out and remotely sign voter registration applications using a computer or a smart phone.

Every legitimate poll has shown that North Carolina voters strongly support a voter ID law.....it appears that only the professional left wing liberals oppose it - ask yourself, "Why do they want to make voter fraud harder to detect and prevent!"
I support the right of every American citizen to vote. Under their own name and only one time per election!

So according to Thom Goolsby the GOP is guilty of voter fraud? Shame on you!
