Another Conservative Way of Helping People

This is the second in a Conservative approach to helping people. The first was devolution, i.e., the surrender of powers to local authorities by the central government. I’ll call the second, the Biblical way.

The story of the Bible begins with Yahweh’s speaking the world into existence from nothing. ("Let there be light and there was light, etc.") Then Yahweh says "Let us make humankind in our own image (And we are.) To be like God then is to be able to speak things into existence from nothing.

Something went wrong. We lost our powers and Yahweh said to us: From now on "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life etc". Life would be hard.

But He never gave up on us.  "In the fullness of time" Yahweh became one of us and began to model what it meant to be in His image. Jesus spoke to things and things manifested. He spoke to blind eyes and they saw. He spoke to deaf ears and they heard. And He spoke to the unclean spirits who were causing many of their problems and they left.

One day Jesus gave a powerful example. He spoke a curse over a fig tree and it withered to its roots. He told His disciples: "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, `Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, "he will have whatever he says." Mark 11:23

We get a picture of Jesus’ problem with us. Examples are when He showed His irritation when they woke Him from sleep to calm a storm. He rebuked his disciples with"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" And, after 70 of his followers learned they could cast out unclean spirits, then ran into one they couldn’t. An annoyed Jesus said: "You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me."And when He blessed the fishes and the loaves and they multiplied, He became exasperated and said " How is it you do not understand?" (By the way in an hyperbole John wrote: "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.")

From these illustrations we see that Jesus expected us to be doing what He did. After Pentecost, the disciples did it "The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people". Crowds were "bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed."Acts 5.

Down through the ages, the church has seen believers do all the things that Jesus did. However, it has only been in our times that we are seeing the tempo increase exponentially all over the world. Yes, I have seen a genetic blind eye open when spoken to. I have been involved in the healing of a prostate cancer confirmed by the urologist. I have been there when a woman whose heart was so damaged, the doctors could not operate, be instantly healed. The healing was certified by the cardiologists and put on national television. I have seen enough to keep me working at it.

There was once a TV show in which a youth would put on a superman suit. He could then "leap tall buildings", move "faster than a speeding bullet." The only problem was that the majority of times he didn’t make it over the building but instead slammed into the side. And, when speeding faster than a bullet, he often slammed into telephone poles and trees. However, his successes kept him working at it.

Why would I call the Bible way a conservative way. Because we must work hard to undo the modern way of teaching a Jesus who the mind of the masses can handle and start revealing the Jesus their mind cannot yet handle.

We are approaching eighteen trillion  dollars of debt. There is not enough money in the world to do what modernists are trying to do by "painful toil." The Bible has revealed to us a better way. However, if people insist on dumbing down Jesus as well as mocking those who are trying to master His way of doing things, progress will be harder.

Glad you recognized it. And for those not familiar with the Bible, I would like to think of it as post-graduate.
