What happened to Season 5 of Doomsday Preppers? Does anyone find it strange that the most viewed show on National Geo Channel is suddenly gone with nary a peep? Re-runs are gone as well. Something is up with Doomsday Preppers, but low information Americans are too distracted to ask why. Dumbocrapus Perpetually Perplexed says it's because no one is watching the show. Yet, had he read the above thread, he would understand Doomsday Preppers was the #1 rated show on NGC. Very strange indeed. Liberals are unable to bring themselves to guess why Doomsday Preppers isn't on TV anymore. Time will tell, but there is more to this than meets the eye.

Following the shooting in South Carolina, liberals were quick to blame the confederate flag (more than the individual, for some reason) and we saw a cultural purging of confederate flags and war memorials to confederate troops, etc. In other shooting, liberals are quick to blame "hateful conservative rhetoric" for the violence, even though they often turn out to be wrong. Now, we have a shooting in Oregon where early reports suggest that the shooter asked victims if they were Christians and then shot them, and had a history of hostility to organized religion. Can we blame a societal tone of hostility towards Christians? Christians have been demonized and ridiculed in this country for several years now, for everything from opposing gay marriage to praying in public. Maybe SOME liberals are saying to themselves, "Serves them right -- they should just get this 'separation of church and state' thing through their thick skulls." Maybe this shooting is the result of these attacks by atheist groups and liberal rhetoric. Liberals that participated in this kind of rhetoric are responsible! If the logic works one way, it must work both ways...

Nobody said...

"Gun owners were responsible for these gun crimes."

They were not "gun crimes," they were murders. If I set fire to a building, killing all the occupants, would you call it a "fire crime?" Liberals don't want to assign responsibility where it belongs. After the SC shooting, liberals blamed a flag. No, PEOPLE commit crimes, not inanimate objects. And if you find fault with my argument claiming that since this murderer in Oregon sought out and killed Christians, those people (you) who have expressed contempt, hostility and dislike for Christians share in the blame, well then now you know how conservatives have felt when liberals want to blame "hateful conservative rhetoric" for other shootings (SC). The same argument should be applied both ways, or not at all.

Democratus Rex said...

Gun owners were responsible for these gun murders. Thank you, I stand corrected.

(Gun owners, presumably, are people.)

Nobody said...

So is it your contention that because a small percentage of gun owners use guns to kill other people that all guns should be made illegal?

Sarkazein said...

DRex- Obama's speech all but gave the shooter a pass. It's the gun's fault. Next Obama will be inviting the shooter's parents to the White House as they too are victims of that "gun crime". Nothing is too far fetched for this President.

DRex- The shooter looked like Obama. Obama is a racialist and the shooter was young enough to be his son and was of mixed race too (according to the shooter himself).

DRex- This question is not for you. If you were sitting in that classroom would you be wishing you had a gun in your pocket?

Democratus Rex said...

It's called the Socratic method.

You, dear friend, answer 6:17. Until you do, I'll assume you consider my query valid and accurate.

Sarkazein said...

"Gun owners", plural is incorrect. Each incident has a single gun owner responsible for his own actions. Even if it is multiple gunman, they are tried individually. It is misleading as it has the appearance of falsely accusing all gun owners. It is partisan because only a wussyfied Democrat would write it.

Wolf's Head said...

"Gun owners were responsible for these gun murders." Drex

Should have read "A gun owner was responsible for these gun murders." Using the plural is incorrect.

As usual, said lefty is using guilt by association as justification for their position. A gun owner committed a crime, therefore all gun owners are responsible.
This tactic has been used by socialists in the last century to justify killing millions of people they didn't like. Hypocritically the left will fight conservative use of stereotypes yet use stereotypes to persecute their opponents.

So a lefty makes another biased accusation against gun owners. Doesn't matter what good the millions of gun owners do to save lives or improve our world, to him one murderous gun owner condemns all gun owners.

Of course, to the left one murderous Muslin suicide bomber doesn't condemn all Muslims.

How "progressive" of him.

Democratus Rex said...

Suppose I am referring to multiple, recent events?

Wolf's Head said...

You tar all gun owners with the same brush.

Nobody said...

You cannot use the Socratic method because, 1) you have nothing to teach, and 2) I have no respect for anything you have to say about any issue. The gall! To claim to use the "Socratic Method" clearly demonstrates the typical liberal attitude of superiority and snootiness.

You do not wish to answer a question directly because you know it is a lose-lose proposition for you. To say, "Yes, I believe ALL guns should be made illegal" is a bridge too far, even for you at this point. But to say, "No, not all guns should be made illegal" is a concession you are not willing to admit. So you obfuscate and spin.

You are an idiot, masquerading as an intellect, but the only person you are fooling is yourself.

Do you believe all guns should be made illegal? There, I'm using the "Socratic Method" with you. Avoiding giving a clear response to this direct interrogative is not using the "Socratic Method," it is just avoiding giving an answer.

Democratus Rex said...

"Which part of my statement was not true? Which part was misleading? Which part was partisan?"

I'm still wondering what the POINT of those statements was. I don't think even YOU know. Unless you clarify your intent and meaning, it is just pointless drivel that I can interpret anyway I wish. So if I say that your intent is to suggest that all guns should be confiscated and made illegal, it is up to you to clarify. If that is not what you meant by making the statement, tell us what you meant. You must think you are being clever, when actually, you are just being incredibly stupid and immature.

Democratus Rex said...

"Gun owners were responsible for these gun murders. "

Is this statement true? Simple as that. That, would be the "point".

""Which part of my statement was not true? Which part was misleading? Which part was partisan?""

Nobody said...

But why state it? Let me give you an example. If a conservative said, "African-Americans commit violent crimes in greater proportion than their representation in the general population," that would be a 'factual' statement, but you libs would jump all over it as a 'racist' statement. What part of that statement would be untrue? What part would be misleading? What part would be partisan? You wouldn't care. You would claim that there was 'racist intent' in simply making the statement.

I accuse you of having a biased disposition against gun ownership in general. You made a statement that was true, but I want to know WHY you made it. You refuse to answer that part, and instead, try to act as if you are a bit too clever by practicing the "Socratic Method." Again, you are the only one here who is impressed with your own "intellect."

While your statement, "Gun owners were responsible for these gun murders" is factually correct, it is misleading in its phrasing. It insinuates gun owners are prone to murdering. Why would you not say, "A violent anti-religious nut was responsible for the shooting in Oregon." That statement would also be factually true, according to eyewitness accounts. Those are not the words you chose to use. The words you chose shift focus away from the anti-Christian nature of the PERSON and towards a GROUP that you apparently do not like very much.

It is almost too easy. You are over-matched in this debate. Your short and, I'm sure you think, 'witty' comments are devoid of logic or depth of thinking and simply do not stand up to serious scrutiny. I think you are aware of this and so attempt to tie the conversation up in semantics while avoiding giving honest, straight-forward answers.

In other words, you're getting spanked!

Democratus Rex said...

""African-Americans commit violent crimes in greater proportion than their representation in the general population,""

Do African-Americans commit more violent crimes because they are African-American?

Nobody said...

Does owning a gun cause one to commit a crime?

Nobody said...

And my, how quickly you jumped on that statement! Proving my point conclusively, thank you very much.

Nobody said...

From my entire statement at 8:38, was the African-American content the ONLY thing you read? Were you simply to ignorant to understand the rest of the four paragraph comment? You poor, pathetic idiot.

Democratus Rex said...

"The words you chose shift focus away from the anti-Christian nature of the PERSON and towards a GROUP that you apparently do not like very much."

The fact that Christians were murdered, mercilessly, is irrelevant. The fact that kindergartners were murdered, mercilessly, is irrelevant. The fact that innocent, undeserving people were murdered, mercilessly while watching a movie, is irrelevant. Gun violence, is relevant no matter whom the victim should be.

Nobody said...

The fact that innocent, undeserving people were murdered, mercilessly while watching a movie, is irrelevant. Gun violence, is relevant no matter whom the victim should be."

So what do you suggest is the remedy? Quit making vague statements and asking rhetorical questions and tell us what you think would stop these senseless shootings?

Democratus Rex said...

I believe that some sort of sensible gun control is necessary. Callous disregard and willful ignorance of this threat to public health cannot continue. What, if any, reasonable solution to stop these senseless shootings would YOU suggest? Surprise me.

Sarkazein said...

At least 300 gun control laws, some say 20,000 if you include the States and a giant move away from individual responsibility toward abortion and psychotropic drugs during formative years and this is what you get. Prescriptions have doubled since 1995.
The military is starting to turn down recruits who have taken psychotropics as children.
Was the latest shooter on psychotropics?

Sarkazein said...

At this Oregon campus, it was against their rules to carry on campus without special written permission from the Dean. Oregon has fairly open gun laws. There was no armed guard. Our Community colleges in Texas have a police force (certified Texas Peace Officers).... armed.

A Philadelphia college was threatened today on the same web site the Oregon shooter used. Is the best response to disarm their security guard, post more signs, and sing Kumbaya (SP).

Sarkazein said...

Liberals do not want to be armed, don't want to serve cops coffee and blame the cops first (Obama). Hopefully this is signs of the end results of their self-loathing and desire to be victims.
I will remain armed, buy a cup of coffee for a cop, blame the perp first and refuse to be a victim.

Nobody said...

"I believe that some sort of sensible gun control is necessary."

Now we're getting somewhere! As Sark points out, we have tons of gun laws already. What further laws are necessary? Do laws prevent criminals from procuring guns? This is why I mentioned the Chicago statistic earlier -- gun laws and gun "control" has been proven not to work. As I read elsewhere, "Making guns illegal will work exactly as well as making drugs illegal." That's worked well, hasn't it!

I tend to look at the person, not the gun. What is it about these perps that causes them to go on these rampages? Our society is quite different than it was when my dad went to high school, and he'll still tell you every truck in the parking lot had a shotgun in the gun rack in plain sight in the truck, but nobody thought to shoot the people in school. People today are different. There is not the same respect for life, as evidenced by reaction to the Planned Parenthood videos (to quote you, "yawn"). (Great quote on that issue -- "If these videos showed people doing this to puppies, the left and the media would be in a tizzy!) What I've noticed about these shooting, as Wolf, Sark and every other conservative poster has tried to point out, is that the perps are intentionally choosing targets where they know their victims will be defenseless. Movie theaters, schools, etc. Obviously, liberals like you would snottily reject suggestions like, "Promote a culture that promotes a respect for life," because you think that that might endanger "abortion rights" or be a hidden reference to religion (which might actually go a long way), so a possible solution is to allow citizens who choose to do so the arm themselves wherever they are. Give perps some doubt about the helplessness of their intended victims. If I were sitting in a movie theater and some perp with a handgun came in wanting to shoot the place up, I would want Sark or Wolf or Johnny Rico in that theater too -- but WITH their concealed carry permits and guns. End the threat by ending the perp. Banning "assault weapons" and "background checks" (both ideas mentioned by Billary) will not work, because "assault weapons" are rarely used in these types of shootings and criminals can and will buy guns illegally, circumventing background checks. Stop the perp, not the gun.

There - I'm done for tonight.
