When Democrats Cheat

Sarkazien, because you are such a faithful reader, I was feeling that you and others out of town are left out of the recent local discussion–local snowflakes. So, here is some quick background.

The mountain people here are traditionally Republican, that is except for the university enclave.

During presidential elections, the university kids often just check off a straight-Democrat ticket. This distorts the local county and town politics. Political leaders who are lifetime residents get swept out of their offices by a totally uninformed electorate.

Local office seeking Democrats take advantage of this distortion by insisting on two early voting sites, with one being right in the middle of the campus. The other voting site is a 4 ½ block walk to the county courthouse where everyone else  votes. This year, to be fair to everyone, the board decided to have just one central voting site for all.   The disingenuous Democrats then tell the students that Republicans are trying to block them from voting by making them walk four blocks.

After a bitter fight all the way to the state capitol, the Dems won. A compromise was sought to use a building on the edge of campus with parking space which would then allow locals to vote there. As you can guess, the Democrat university administration came up with a blatantly transparent cockamamie story that the building would be unsafe.

The whole local system is corrupted.
