Trump Unchains the Clergy

Today, President Trump kept another of his promises by signing an executive order cutting the legs out from under the Johnson Amendment.  The Johnson Amendment was put into place by
Lyndon Johnson, who after being called a Communist by preachers, pitched a hissy fit.  He then made a change in the tax code, prohibiting tax-exempt organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates.

When candidate Trump met with the thousand Evangelical leaders last year, he startled them when he said “If you don't mind me saying so, I think you guys have gotten soft."   Then they brought up the Johnson Amendment which had put them in shackles.   At that point Trump promised to take care of it.  That promise and the promise to appoint judges who would not persecute the church, won the ministers and 81% of Evangelicals made Trump our president.

Trump said today that his executive order is meant to ensure that people are not unfairly targeted for political speech. In effect, the order discourages the IRS from going after churches aggressively for their political expression. “But the law stays on the books; an executive order cannot change it.”

President Donald Trump said today that the “threat against the faith community is over.”

What 45 did was what he does best, gaslighting.
Trump distracted his followers most Evangelicals living near the margins or just above. Franklin Graham and Trump distracted his followers with his EO on the Johnson Admendment while Republicans were busy stealing there healthcare. Trump EO is unconstitutional and un American as America is not a Theocracy. This was nothing but gaslighting. The courts will soon strike it down but it did what he wanted it to do.

Yep, "healthcare" has been "stolen". All the hospitals and doctor's offices are non-operational now. Poor and middle class and the rich people are dying in the streets due to no "healthcare"... it was "stolen". Everyone has been "gaslighted", nothing but "gaslighted" people roam the streets of America like zombies in search of a doctor, a hospital, a bandaid... something, even a preacher allowed to preach what he wants to preach without fear of the IRS taking the Church's offerings.

America is now a "theocracy". The Right Reverend Trump has persuaded the Bishops in the House of the Lord (as it is now known) to pass a Commandment. Next the Cardinals in was once called the US Senate will bless the plan and present it in a Sunday service to his Holiness the Trump.

Let's understand the conservative position. Conservatives want to exclude those on the margins form the healthcare system as much as possible. Conservatives want increased premiums for older Americans not yet of Medicare age, all to give millionaires and billionaires a tax cut. Sure someone pays for healthcare the healthy adults pay for the children, the old and the wealthy, the lucky pay for those on the margins. What is your ideal of a fair healthcare system? During a pandemic do you think your wealth will proctect you if the streets and hospitals and emergency rooms are beyond capacity? Tax cuts for the rich are a Dumbass ideal. The rich will do even better, enjoy longer healthier lives in a healthy society if there fellow citizens have easy access to healthcare, decent wages and education. Look at third world countries with huge disparity in income, access to education and healthcare.

"Gaslighting"- Do you ever even look up the definitions of words? While you are looking this word up, think of all the "....phobe" words used by Democrats. Then, try to relate the two. Then apologize for you ignorance. But just apologize on this word, there's not enough time for all the other goofus words and comments you throw around.

Goofus, you do not understand economics, there is no reason to discuss how tax cuts stimulate the economy and produce more monies for everyone than do higher taxes. As usual you are 100% incorrect in your statements. Is it frustrating to be a troll when no one takes your bait?

How will 24 million citizens being kicked off healthcare coverage to give the tax cuts for the rich help society? How will cheaper insurance premiums for the young and the wealthy but increased premiums for older Americans and those with health issue serve society's best interest?
