VENT PAGE 123

Vent pages are handy for posting of off-topic posts, rants, raves, rages, etc, which might not be appropriate on other threads where adults are having serious discussions. Childish rant? Need to call another poster a name? Just feel like spouting off? Or even if you have something to say and there doesn't seem to be any other logical place to say it.

My new congressman will be Dan Crenshaw. He is the Navy Seal who lost an eye from an IED but stayed in and even redeployed.
A conservative PAC calling itself "Conservative Results Matter" ran a TV ad disparaging Dan Crenshaw. All it did was inspire many to vote in the run-off for Dan. He won with 70% of the vote.

Sark,

Thanks to President Obama’s investment in Alternative Energy Sources were becoming energy independent before Conservatives started attacking alternative energy with this new corrupt Administration.

Anonymous 8:07 AM- Of course that's not what the term "energy independent" means. I don't know of anyone who doesn't want alternative energy sources the same way I don't know anyone who wants to give away millions of dollars to bogus companies as happened in the windmill and solar energy world. Let's face it, Obama was no businessman.

SCOTUS 7-2 says what every conservative on they blog said- you can't be fired to do something against your religion. I hope the poor baker can go after the plaintiffs in the original case and sue them until they couldn't afford a stale donut hole much less a baker's cake.

Turns out the SCOTUS baker ruling was more about the state's hostility toward the baker and his religion. Imagine that, liberals being hostile toward Christianity.

Watching the news shows, I've decided I really hate the straw-man argument so many in the media are putting forward regarding the SCOTUS ruling today. It's doom and gloom! People are going to use religion to broadly discriminate against gays! Today it's a cake, tomorrow it's everything. Gays won't be served in restaurants or allowed into hotels.

I know of no case where a Christian business owner broadly discriminated or desired to broadly discriminate. No true Christian would do that. In every case I have followed -- Melissa's Sweetcakes, Arlene's Flowers, and now this case -- the Christian only asked not to be MADE to participate in a gay wedding. The Masterpiece Cakeshop owner offered to sell anything else in his shop to the gay couple. The CBS Sunday Morning Show on Arlene's Flowers was especially enlightening. The florist claimed she considered the gay man a long-time friend and had sold him flowers for years, but drew the line at providing an arrangement for a gay wedding. Some friend! She wound up in court, vilified and the recipient of profane messages and death threats. (Read about Masterpiece Cakeshop and the messages/threats they received by the "tolerant" left.)

Why can't you liberals understand this??? Christians are instructed not to judge because no one is perfect -- all have sinned, including Christians. But they are ALSO instructed not to condone sin. Absolutely not to celebrate sin. The central message of Christianity is that Christ died so we could be forgiven our sins, but we must turn from them, not embrace and celebrate them. Don't try to force people of faith to engage in an action that they believe is in direct contradiction to their sincerely held beliefs.

A Christian believing that homosexuality is a sin does not mean that the Christian hates the homosexual. The homosexual does not have to accept the Christian's belief. The Christian does not have to celebrate the lifestyle of the homosexual. Civilly disagree and walk away. This has never been the goal of the radical gay movement. It has ALWAYS been about destroying the right of Christians (and Muslims and Jews) to even personally BELIEVE that homosexuality is a sin. And if you can't make them change their beliefs, make it so they can never express their beliefs, or they will face financial ruin and death threats.

Great read on SCOTUS ruling:

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/masterpiece-cakeshop-ruling-religious-liberty-victory/

Key Quote: "No, the Court did not issue the sweeping free-speech ruling that many advocates hoped for and others feared. Instead it issued a ruling that reminded state authorities that people of faith have the exact same rights — and are entitled to the exact same treatment — as people of different faith or no faith at all. And it did so in an opinion that decisively rejected the exact talking points so favored by the anti-religious left....State bullies beware, when Justice Kennedy declared in Obergefell that the First Amendment still protects religious people as they seek to teach and uphold those “principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their lives and faiths,” he meant what he said. Tolerance, it appears, is not a one-way street."

MANAGUA, Nicaragua—A surge of violence has snuffed out economic activity and dimmed prospects to peacefully resolve a political crisis here that began as a protest against tax increases and turned into a revolt against Nicaragua’s longtime leader Daniel Ortega.

Since mid-April, more than 100 people have been killed in confrontations with police during mass protests and what human-rights groups say are paramilitary gangs aligned with Mr. Ortega’s government.

Among them were 15 people killed at a peaceful Mother’s Day protest march last month in Managua and 11 people by paramilitary groups and police in the predominantly indigenous city of Masaya this past weekend, including a 15-year-old protester who witnesses say was executed by a policewoman.

On Tuesday, violence flared in the quaint colonial city of Granada, home to hundreds of American retirees.

"But they are ALSO instructed not to condone sin. Absolutely not to celebrate sin."

"Christ died so we could be forgiven our sins, but we must turn from them, not embrace and celebrate them. Don't try to force people of faith to engage in an action that they believe is in direct contradiction to their sincerely held beliefs."

You "condoned", "embraced", and "celebrated" sin when you voted for Trump. No one forced you to, you did it willingly. Which corner of hell will you reside?

Nobody said...

Ah, a non-Christian who probably does not believe in a heaven or hell telling me I'm going to hell. Humorous. So you DO believe in sin now? What is sin? What is the consequence of unrepentant sin? You believe, now, that there IS a consequence sin? Is homosexuality a sin? I also love how an apparently non-believing individual has taken on the role of God as judge, with the power to condemn persons to hell.

Lots of evangelicals voted for Trump. It does not mean that they "condoned" his sin. I know this is probably too difficult for your limited thinking to comprehend, but people of faith were put in a tough spot in that election. I did not support Trump in the primaries. I liked Ben Carson (try calling me a racist again). When it came down to Trump or Hillary, the choices went like this: support a woman who had her own long list of "sins," who enabled her rapist husband to victimize women, and whose policy positions represented an existential threat to people of faith (especially with an open Supreme Court seat), OR vote for a flawed individual who stated unequivocally his support for religious FREEDOM (that word and concept liberals so despise), who talked about taking care of AMERICANS, who promised that he would improve the economy. Check, check and check.

What is it about Trump that bothers you the most? That he seems to love and care for this country? That he has helped the economy -- through deregulation, tax cuts, and demolishing Obamacare -- so that average Americans are doing better than through eight years of that miserable failure, Obama? That he supports the rule of law when it comes to immigration? Why do you hate America so much?

And finally, voting for a politician is no where CLOSE to the same as asking a Christian (or Muslim, or Jew -- I notice no gay couple has gone after Muslims and Jews yet) individual to personally participate in a wedding celebration that that individual feels is sinful. FORCING a baker to bake, decorate, and deliver the cake to the wedding reception; demanding that a photographer attend and take flattering pictures of the couple, requires a level of personal involvement not comparable to voting. No person of faith that I know who voted for Trump has said, "You know, I voted for Trump because I celebrate and condone all of his sins." That's just stupid. A vote for Trump was a vote for a candidate who said, "I hear you, and I'm going to do something about what you have told me." The other candidate just called me "deplorable" and dismissed my views, my values, and my beliefs, kind of like you do with every comment. That kind of contempt for your fellow Americans will only lead to a Trump reelection.

You'll be in the corner of hell with all of the other christian hypocrites. You know its true. Save your rationalizing sanctimony for judgement day.

Ahh, impotent rage! There is nothing more entertaining! Christian hypocrite? And you think you know me well enough and can judge? By what/whose standards, pray tell! Yours? Ha! I thought liberals were all love and tolerance, not judgement! Well, right up until someone disagrees with you, refuses to bow down at the altar of your political correctness, and can effectively counter your arguments to the point you are reduced to declaring, with rabid foam in your mouth, that they are just going to the hell you don't believe in. That would be me.

Care to respond to ANY of my questions, drive-by-anonymous-accuser?

You must REALLY be a hate-filled person to toss out such judgments and accusations without backing ANY of them up or responding to hard questions.

I really am having fun with this.

Tell me this -- were you REALLY angry at that Supreme Court decision on the Masterpiece Cakeshop? What made you most angry -- was it that the court, and Kennedy, who wrote the gay marriage decision, smacked you liberal fascist bullies down, or that you CANNOT make Christians swallow their religious beliefs and cater (pun intended) to your every whim? Does it really burn you up that you cannot rule over everyone else as the tyrant you know yourself to be, deep down?

Do you understand what true tolerance is? Ever thought about trying to ACTUALLY practice it?

Nobody said...

Here is a quote from the court's ruling in Obergefell, written by Kennedy:

Finally, it must be emphasized that religions, and those
who adhere to religious doctrines, may continue to advocate
with utmost, sincere conviction that, by divine precepts,
same-sex marriage should not be condoned. The
First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and
persons are given proper protection as they seek to teach
the principles that are so fulfilling and so central to their
lives and faiths, and to their own deep aspirations to
continue the family structure they have long revered.

Maybe you missed that in your celebration of sin following that ruling.
