Ms Foxx is a very poor Congress person for all of us including conservatives.

Take the Tea Pot Museum in Sparta. lf any communitiy needed federal dollars it would be Sparta now I'm not sure they needed a Tea Pot Museum.
Part of a congress persons job is to get a return on federal tax dollars going to Washington. Ms Fox does a poor job of this.
Ms Foxx's very anti stimulas position makes it dfficult to get Federal stimulas money for our 5th district. many of you may think thats great but we have a new High School being built, we need a by pass around down Boone, US 321 is not comlete The university has always got projects. These are jobs and can also mean higher property taxes without federal grants and funding. Be careful what you wish for.

oatz said...

liberal pov Mrs Foxx is perfect for the 5th, taking other peoples money and bringing it back home to every man according to their needs sounds very UN-American.

Liberal POV said...

You have what you want in Ms Foxx, In 2010 maybe we liberals can replace her with a more compassiate and deeper thinking congressperson.

Ms Foxx works for the special interest groups Insurance, tobacco, banking, coal, chemicals, Drug companies and oil. Lillle people have no friend in Ms Foxx.

Oatz did you ever see Charlie Wilson's War? Ms Foxx is in a very safe district and dosn't have to be very smart, have an understanding of problems or deliver anything. Unlike Charlie Wilson she has no other causes.

Blogger said...

Liberal, What happened to your former criticism of Rep. Foxx that she wasn't working hard enough to get earmarks such as your bicycle trail?

I am sure you really meant appropriations for our district and not earmarks.

An earmark is an item that is inserted into a bill to direct funds to a specific project or recipient without any public hearing or review. One of the problems is that there is no transparency or accountability in the system.

U.S. Congressional members can secure hundreds of millions of dollars of funding for a project without subjecting it to debate by their colleagues in the Congress, or to the scrutiny and oversight of the public.

Liberal POV said...

We do need those Bike trails.

guy faulkes said...

We do need those Bike trails. - POV,

Then pass an ordinance requiring a tag for a bike as required for a car and let those that use bikes pay for the trails. While you are at it, require a special license for a bicycle similar to that required for a motorcycle in hopes bicyclers would start following the rules of the road. If every bicycler I have seen that ran red lights, stop signs, passed on the right at red lights, etc. were appropriately fined and that money was used for bike trails, there would be more trails than roads.

I have always been a staunch supporter of Ms. Foxx. However, I do admit that after doing some investigation into the Blowing Rock land trade, that I am disappointed in her conduct as to transparency. Rodger Young appears to be correct in his assessment of that situation.

Sarkazein said...

Bicycle paths are even more important now, as Obama leads the country in to third world status. Think how much less space will be needed for the patients of the government health-care offices. With lines of thousands of people, the parking lots can hold 24 bikes per car parking space where before only one car per space would fit.

Liberal POV said...

GOP ( Grumpy Old People)

This is classic Republican ("Then pass an ordinance requiring a tag for a bike as required for a car and let those that use bikes pay for the trails. )

Do you really think your $25.00 licence fee coversthe cost of highway construction?

If more people used bikes we wouldn't need to spend so much on highway construction and war for oil.

Ypu people are penny wise and dollar foolish.

Take your Yellow Pages book and tear out every page having to do with the evil automobile: Gas stations, tire stores, auto parts, body shops, muffler shops, brake shops, auto air, general mechanics, new and used car lots, car insurance, wrecker service, car washes and any other ones you can think of, and see how big of a dent you've put in the local economy. You love 10% unemployment, you'll love what's left.

I applaud Foxx for her no earmarks and wish others would follow. I do wish she would hold a meeting in person though Blogger, rather than a phone in session. Why do you think she doesn't want to do this?

guy faulkes said...

POV, it all depends on how soon you bike riders want the trails. I guess you could make the tag fee $25,000.00 if you want them soon enough, I sort of think that would be detrimental, because as with your sin taxes, you would sell fewer tags. In any event, in these Obama-inal economic times, if you want something, then you are going to have to figure a way to fund it yourself.

I really do think a driver's license for bicycle riders is a good idea. One of these fools ran a stop sign in front of me this morning. Another was riding up the road in the wrong lane as if he were a pedestrian. If one gets killed the cry is "Share the Road!" instead of "Evolution in Action".

LOS ANGELES, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Wildfire investigators in California are looking for marijuana growers tied to a Mexican drug cartel whom they suspect ignited a blaze that has charred more than 87,000 acres (35,200 hectares) of a national forest.

The La Brea Fire, which erupted Aug. 8 in the Los Padres National Forest in the remote Santa Barbara County mountains northwest of Los Angeles, is believed to be the first major wildfire in the state caused by drug traffickers, U.S. Forest Service spokesman Jim Turner said on Monday.

A joint statement issued Saturday night by the Santa Barbara County sheriff's office and the Forest Service said the blaze was sparked by a "cooking fire in a marijuana drug trafficking operation ... believed to be run by a Mexican national drug organization."

Guy,

I too was a staunch supporter of Foxx until the Blowing Rock land trade fiasco occurred. As many are beginning to see, Foxx and the Town of Blowing Rock conspired, out of the view of the public, to trade land that was purchased under questionable circumstances by the Town of Blowing Rock. What many find even more surprising is the weird (for lack of a better term) manner in which Foxx acted towards local hunters and shooters concerned with losing the last place within walking distance of Blowing Rock that they could hunt or shoot on.

Instead of meeting with several sportsmen and women who had approached her on several occassions requesting an audience, Foxx simply refused to meet with them, cutting off all communications. To say many long time locals in Blowing Rock and Watauga County were shocked is an understatement.

At this point it is simply entertaining to watch Foxx and her number 1, Aaron Whitener, try and answer questions concerning the land trade by outraged taxpayers. Whitener was recently called on land trade inconsistiencies by a member of the Republican Woman's Party. If looks are any indication of emotions; Whitener was extremely uncomfortable.

Foxx and Whitener should be uncomfortable with refusing to engage with their constituents. Many valid questions concerning Mrs. Foxx's integrity are surfacing. The fact that a current town council member's 1.3 million dollar home overlooks the parcel is, in itself, enough to elicit obvious questions. How a municipality could legally spend half a million dollars of taxpayer money on land it didn't even know could be traded is another intriguing question.

Perhaps more frightening were reactions by the traditionally anti-Foxx crowd. There were none. Not one Foxx hating socialist sheep would say a word (Liberal Pov - you out there?). Instead of filleting Foxx on something tangible, they continued to disparage her based on illogical arguements and emotions. Politics and liberals - some things never change. LOL!!!

Democrats on a House committee are seeking detailed financial records from dozens of large insurance companies, officials disclosed Tuesday, part of an investigation into "executive compensation and other business practices" in an industry opposed to President Barack Obama's plan to overhaul health care.

The request included records relating to compensation of highly paid employees, documents relating to companies' premium income and claims payments, and information on expenses stemming from any event held outside company facilities in the past 2 1/2 years.

The requests were made in letters signed by Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who guided a portion of health care legislation through the House Energy and Commerce Committee last month as chairman, and Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., who heads the Energy and Commerce investigations and oversight subcommittee.

'We are God's partners in matters of life and death'
A reader points out that President Obama's call with the rabbis today — as recorded in Rabbi Jack Moline's and other clerics' Twitter feeds — freights health care reform with a great deal of religious meaning, and veers into the blend of policy and faith that outraged liberals in the last administration.

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, according to Moline (paging Sarah Palin...), quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "who shall live and who shall die."

The president ended the call by wishing the rabbis "shanah tovah," or happy new year — in reference to the High Holidays a month from now.

8: Canada, UK, France, Germany are socialist countries even though they were and are our allies?

guy faulkes said...

According to the news, Canada's health care system is imploding due to the rationing of care and the country is looking for(dare I say it?) change in the system.

1. Obama may be a Muslim. This is certainly no worse than being one of Reverend Wright's brand of Christian. Does it matter to you? I do not care.

2. Thanks to Ms. Palin, the Democrats say they are going to take the death panel provisions out of the bills. I do not believe them.

3. Obama is an American citizen because his mother was one. I do not understand why he will not release his real birth certificate because he would still be an American citizen, even if he was born in a foreign country.

4. The only way McCain could have won the election was to have encouraged Palin to be herself and energize the conservatives. When the liberal Republican hierarchy refused to let her be herself, it killed the parties chances. In any case McCain would not have won. Palin would have.

5. Saying no is the best form of birth control for anyone of any age. What do you think works better than abstinence for preventing pregnancy?

6. Global climate change is occurring all the time, always has and always will. Man has no impact on it.

7.Yes, Ms Palin will make a world class leader if she decides to run.

8. They have been our allies and with the exception of Canada, our enemies. They certainly are much more socialistic than we are (unless Obamam and his disciples get their way). What does that have to do with being either an ally or an enemy?

Now, POV, you might want to get back to the subject at hand which is the earmark issue and the fact people do not like them. This is another reason Obama is losing popularity. Your comments are as ridiculous now as they were the first hundred times you said them and have nothing to do with the subject. When you can't make an argument you always try to change the subject. You need some new material.

How do explain the steady drop in all he polls of the popularity of Obama's performance. The earmarks in the porkulas bill was the start of the decline.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made.
"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

Rep. McCotter Wants Information From White House-- Demands Answers on Spamalot Scandal (Video)
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) was on FOX News this morning with Eric Shawn to discuss the White House spamming scandal. The White House paid GovDelivery in Minnesota with US taxpayer money to send out spam emails promoting Obama's unpopular health care rationing program.

The email lists were even provided by the White House although the Obama Administration originally denied this.

Rep. McCotter wants the White House to come clean on this growing scandal that involves using taxpayer money to promote the president's unpopular government takeover of the health care industry:

Frighteningly, team Obama and the Democratically-controlled Congress -- who have taken on the role of the prudent parents of juvenile Americans -- have proven to be more than occasionally wrong for the country. In their desire to completely control American lives, they have progressed from losing their tempers to losing their way. Americans are now living in a nanny state in which the Democrats in power are implementing policy after policy designed to reduce freedom of choice and increase government control. Big government, socialized institutions, and sharing the wealth are policies supported by the Democrats - the party whose membership includes academics, Hollywood pseudo-intellectuals, and community organizers. The members of the Democratic Party are those who believe that they are smarter and wiser than the average American and that government intervention in all aspects of our lives is necessary in order to prevent social and economic catastrophe.

Both the executive branch (controlled by a self-entitled, narcissistic socialist) and the legislative branch (controlled by power hungry, leftist dictators) of our government believe that like Jim Anderson from the television classic, they know what is best for the children of this nation. Americans are waking up daily to the discovery that their elected leaders have determined that citizens are not competent to make their own economic and personal decisions on matters pertaining to the purchase of healthcare, banking services, and automobiles. Corporate boards of directors are not competent to hire and fire their executives, determine appropriate salaries for those executives, or decide which type of product to manufacture without a White House czar overseeing these everyday business decisions.

The White House hired a private communications company based in Minnesota to distribute mass e-mails, helping to shed light on how some recipients received e-mails in support of President Obama's health care plan without signing up for them, FOX News has learned.

The company, Govdelivery, describes itself as the world's leading provider of government-to-citizen communication solutions and says its e-mail service provides a fully-automated on-demand public communication system.

It is still unknown how much taxpayer money the White House provides to Govdelivery for its services.

The revelation comes after the White House acknowledged this week that people were receiving unsolicited e-mails from the administration about health care reform and suggested the problem was with third-party groups that placed the recipients' names on the distribution list.

Republicans quickly pounced on the news.

"This is yet another ominous chapter in the administration's rabid campaign to jam its radical health care scheme onto an unwilling public by any means necessary," Rep. Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan said in a statement.

Several FOX News viewers complained they received these e-mails even though they had never requested any communication from the White House.

On Monday, the White House implemented several new changes to its Web site, apparently aimed at reducing the number of people who receive unsolicited e-mails and at fighting charges that it's collecting personal information on critics.

Obama has not started a war as Bush II, Bush I, and Reagan did using Exective power.

Oatz-
Sounds like the WH Press secretary Mr Potato-Head owes Major Garret of FOX a public apology.

I guess the brilliant people who thought of Obama as a "uniter" are under the impression that everyone has to convert to the Democrat Party after the election.
The illegal mailing with the use of taxpayer money becomes political if the emails denounce the Republican Party's comments about Obama-care. If they are strictly informational, it is the Bully Pulpit. If they in anyway mention the opposition, it is illegal.

Lib, you like to use the term Ugly Americans. When polled, most people around the world tell us they get their ideas of Americans from Hollywood. I don't have to tell you that Hollywood is controlled by your crowd.

The world does get many views and ideas from Hollywood.

The Republicans go to Hollywood shop for political candidates. Reagan, Fred Thompson, Goober, Arnold, Sonny Bonno. Southern Califorinia is as extreme right wing as Newland, NC.

Right wing corporate America needs good actors to sell their greed programs. Fox is the right wing propaganda machine.

Were you in Central America when the right wing extremist and death squads that the Reagan Admin was supporting committed the massacre at El Mozote El Salvador then lied to cover it up ? Later the mass grave was uncovered.

Some of the posters here seem to be of the opinion that their is a vast supply of "free money" in Washington DC and that it is the job of the congressperson to bring some of it home to her district.

News Flash: There's NO free money in Washington. Washington doesn't have ANY money. The system the liberals seem to want is one where Washington collects tax dollars from those that earn it, and then redistribute those dollars to those that "deserve" it.

They can't "give" you any money unless they first take it from someone else!

Another news flash. Apparently some of you don't know that Virginia Foxx did carry Watauga county last election....and that she ALWAYS carries 16 of the 20 voting precincts in the county...losing only in those districts that are heavily populated by ASU students and faculty.
