To Senator Hagan on Town Halls

Wrote the following to our Senator just now.

Senator Hagan, This morning I watched Senator Arnold Specter’s town hall. What was so obvious was what we all out here already knew, but you people in Washington can not believe.

The people attending these forums are the real thing. They were incredibly well informed and their questions ranged across the spectrum of concerns and frustrations we all are having with our government.

When you plan your meetings, I hope you will think of the following: When we e-mail or write to you, we will get back a form letter. We don’t know whether you have read our concerns or not. On the other hand, when we have you right there in front of us, we know you are hearing at least some of what we say.

Town halls then, need to be a time of you listening to your constituents and not you further angering us by demonstrating you would rather listen to yourself. We have heard you. Now is our turn.

The town halls are demonstrating that many constituents are at least as informed, and sometimes more informed, than their representatives.

Some of your colleagues are blowing a great opportunity to hear what the voters really know and feel.

Blogger,
She doesn't care how you feel.
Is it not obvious yet that 90% of our senators and congressmen are not out to represent the American people anymore? They are not 'representatives' they are politicians.

How many were against the bailouts?
Burr (and many others) received 95% of his calls against voting for the first bailout, and he voted for it anyway because his buddies in Washington were doing it and he (and many others) have no backbone.

It doesn't matter what you think, we are beyond that, and until the American people grow a pair and stand up for themselves, we will continue to have our money devalued and funneled into the lobbyists and bankers and continue to be walked over and ignored by our 'leaders'.

Health care reform means they get more money to let this ponzi scheme that is our government last a little longer...it means more control.

Town hall meetings mean having to possibly face one of the few american's who have woken up...and that is not something they want.

But don't worry, forget reporting news on actual economic and social issues...cnbc just ran a 'breaking news' segment on how twitter is back online after being down yesterday. Maybe I can ask Hagan at a town hall meeting what she did while twitter was down! Now that is important.

Did you go to public school?

Do you want to see seniors without medicare? Do you like Roger want to see people have to prove citizenship to be treated for life threating injuries?

Do you oppose taxpayer money supporting ASU and students attending?

I do not believe illegal aliens deserve any social benefits from this country. To give them to theses criminals is only to encourage criminal acts such as the smuggling of illegal aliens. we did not ask for them to break the law and come here. They should suffer the consequences of those actions.

I also am waiting for someone to mention that page 828 of the House health care bill allows the government to come into your home to provide "coaching" for parenting skills. No wonder people are so passionate in their opposition to this lunacy.

What in God's name does whether Matt went to public school or if he favors government aid in order to attend ASU got to do with health care?

Once again POV tries to change the subject when he has nothing relevant to say.

Dick Morris lists 15 key senators to contact about your concern over the government attempt to take over of our health care.

Sen. Hagan is one of the 15, so I would feel better about you guys if you would send us copies of what you write to her.

Even if she is not up for reelection,if she gets out there too far with Pelosi, she could cause problems for North Carolina Democrats who will be vulnerable in 2010.

Blogger said...

Matt, you need to think about this. Democrats like Hagan are surrounded by group think--people like the liberals on this blog. So, being insulated, they go weird. Pelosi is the poster child, a classic example of cluelessness about real America. We can't let that happen to Hagan. Members of Congress need to hear from real people. Hearing from people like you keeps them from going totally over the cliff.

Someone who automatically equates my gun collection with crime and drugs has some serious issues. Does she equate voting rights with literacy tests or poll taxes? Simply another liberal out for herself. I will keep sending her messages asking why she didn't answer.

Liberal Socialist Sheep,

None of them work well at all. The Postal Service can barely keep itself in business and, for the first time in 200 years, is going to cancel Saturday service. And we want the federal government running the already successful health care system? Uh huh.

FEMA. Are you kidding. We never needed FEMA. Introduce a federal agency and tell liberals like you that you can't live without it and wallaa, another massive bureaucracy is born!!! FEMA does nothing except infringe on the rights of American citizens. The powers of FEMA are far reaching and much too strong. Instead of the coordination agency they were supposed to be, FEMA can literally take control of an facet of our lives at the mere whim of an elected official. You are such and idiot for inviting the wolves inside, you know that?

The Park Service can't pay for itself and is a constant drain on the taxpayer. It runs, but not effeciently or effectively. They don't believe in wildlife management and seek to let nature "take its course". This is why the deer are rapidly disappearing on Moses Cone Memorial Park. Non native coyotes are invading Watauga County, and yet the Park Service does nothing. Ask to hunt those coyotes and the liberals at Park Service HQ are adamant to let nature takes its course. Then ask them that in the spirit of nature taking its course if it is ok for American Indians to hunt on Park Service land. They never seem able to answer that one (they must be members of Watauga Watch. The Park Service, until recently, denied American citizens the right to self defense within Park boundaries. Only through the efforts of pro-freedom groups like NRA and Gun owners of America were these oppressive law overturned.

So, POV, you have been taken to school once again. This ought to be fun to see the dribble you try and come back with!!!! LOL

POV,
I'm late replying to your first post, but it needs to be done.
Once again you fail to realize the consequences of the actions we have taken.

Do I support tax payer dollars going to ASU? I do believe our education system would be better if it were not for the department of education. I guess there is nothing saying states could not support schools, that would be up for the voters.
Where your "logic" comes short is realizing what all this federal money has done to our education system. How much did ASU cost back when you were the age to attend? How much did you pay for a 4 year degree? Why has the prices gone up everywhere?
The influx of federal dollars into our education system (and student loans) mean that colleges can charge more because they know that nearly any student that needs a loan for college will be able to get it. What happens if that doesn't exist and kids either a) need savings to go to school or b) work their way through school? Tuition would not be as expensive! No school would charge 40k a year because no one could pay it. But now, its easy...sign your life away to the government, become indebted to the government and go to any school you want, no matter the cost.
I worked 40 hours a week for my last 3 years up here, and would not have been able to come close to paying for the cost of school here at ASU (in state tuition even) without the help from my parents. Compare that to my dad, who worked 40 hours a week some 40 years ago and was able to pay every penny of his school and living costs.
Then lets look even more about federal dollars in schools. Do you know what city gets the most money for public schools? Do you know what city has the worst public schools? The answer to both questions is the same city, Detroit. Once again, the mentality of George Bush is just about the same as most the liberals...throw gobs of money at it (Bush tripled the size of the department of education) and hope that it works.

Schools don't compete, they all take the same national standardized tests. Kids don't come out learning what they want, they get forced through an education so they can pass some standard test.

I won't answer your health care questions in detail unless you want me to, since this is long enough already. But the answer is related to my long one on education. Government involvement in health care is THE reason prices have gone up the way they have. Take away medicare and replace it with private insurance that competes in the free market and we see a whole new health care system. One that would in short time once again be the envy of the world.

I suggest that the problems involving healthcare be targeted one at a time, not an 1100 page monstrosity that is at best an expensive experiment. For example, interstate sales will force insurance companies to compete with one another which will improve coverage and reduce costs. In some states, healthcare policies require that Viagra prescriptions be included. I find this ridiculous. Perhaps the government should reduce its healthcare ambitions to catastophic insurance. There are many ways to approach healthcare issues ithout turning so much over to the politicians.

One of the problems of the healthcare bill is that it will mean cuts of hundreds of billions of dollars to medicaid just as baby boomers are becoming eligible. This means a 30 percent increase of people on the medicaid rosters with less money to go around. It's a shame that this administration has so little sympathy for the elderly. People that have paid into the system all their lives seem to be little more than empty piggy banks to Washington.

I have a problem with the part where the government mandates that everyone have helthcare insurance that suits the bureaucrats and if you choose a private option over the government option then you have to pay an extra fee. Getting fined over not having healthcare insurance doesn't help either. Right now, I have only catastrophic healthcare insurance and choose to pay my usual medical fees myself. The House bill eliminates that option.

1: Medicaid is for the poor those on welfare not the working poor. Medicare is for the elderly and underage children on thoses on Medicare or children of a parent who has passed leaving underage children.

2: Health care reform will reduce the need to increase the prices on the insured to cover the uninsured, this includes Medicare. Notice we have some on this blog that don't want to be forced to pay for health care coverage for themselves or their families.

3: " It's a shame that this administration has so little sympathy for the elderly."
Now do you really believe such nonsence? Who sold you that line of Bullshit?

oatz said...

President Obama innocuously described the intended result of comparative effectiveness research like this: "If there's a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that's going to make you well?"

Listen to what the President is saying here. He's saying that the government is capable of determining which pill works best for you and should therefore only pay for that pill.

But this one-size-fits-all approach goes against everything modern medicine is learning about the genetics of the human body. Different individuals and members of different ethnic and age groups respond differently to treatments. More and more, treatment of diseases like cancer is highly individualized and based on a genetic analysis of both the patient and her disease. Science is leading us in one direction and the administration and the Congress are taking us in the other.

What if you get sick and your doctor says you need the red pill, but the government has determined that the blue pill is what works best for its budget? In a single payer health world, what do you do then?

My understanding of generics products is they contain the very same mixture of ingredients. Lets say salt is salt no matter the brand or cost.

More people will be able to receive treatment and fewer will lose their home because of medical cost.

The quality of life will increase for million as they may not have to stay in that dead end job just because it has medical insurance. They will not have to decide between food and medicine.

I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised by such a cold and rude response to the elderly from a heathcare reform supporter, but I have read most of the bill and I know what medicaid is for. I can also do the math. Less help for more people is a fact. Nothing posted here will change that. When I go, I do not want the bill's end of life counseling. I have family and friends and a minister for that purpose and I don't want my grandchildren to have to pay for the governments counseling. They would just send another healthcare reform supporter to offer crocodile tears for a paycheck. I think that if many reform supporters would actually read the bill, then they would change their minds. I find no real empathy from the liberals posting here.

Are you talking the 20 million criminals (illegal aliens)? If you are then how can they be residents of the US if they are illegal aliens. Tax payers? What? Illegal aliens do not pay taxes. No one knows who they are. They send US dollars (in the billions) back to Mexico. This is known as a remittance and causes inflation of our dollar here at home.

Anyway, it would be easy to deport 20 million criminals (illegal aliens). In the late
1990s, the Border Patrol, with a force of 5000 agents regularly apprehended over 1 million illegal aliens a year. I just googled the Border Patrol and it looks like they have 20,000 agents now. You do the math.
