Obama and Our Children

To begin with, knowledgeable conservatives have no problem with a president of the United States inspiring children to stay in school and work hard. However, this president brings some baggage.

1. Because, the White House colluded with the Department of Education on the offending accompanying lesson plan, they undoubtably violated federal laws. What alarmed Americans were the guidelines to teachers to do things like have children "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." After our firestorm, the DOE changed that sentence for the little children, but not for high schoolers.

This is all creepy because it suddenly turned to being all about Obama. It sounded too much like “How do we help our Maximum Leader,” not “how do we help our country.”

2. A second problem is that this president has turned out to be the most politically polarizing president in recent history. Instead of becoming the president of all Americans, he has stayed in campaign mode. From the get-go, he demonizes Republicans, continuously blaming them for everything that went wrong prior to his arrival. He has never acknowledged that some of the real culprits were congressional Democrats, the likes of Barney Franks and Chris Dodds. They, (along with some Republicans), created much of the near economic disaster.

Now, Obama continues to try to convince us that his problems in pushing through his current programs are all the fault of the opposition party.

Bottom line, everything this president does has become political. So, pardon us if a large majority of us have our radars turned on anytime he speaks--always watching and waiting to hear the subliminal political message.

Conservatives look petty, angry, and silly on this issue.

You folks are the classic know Nothings.

The good thing is kids will now pay attention to what Obama has to say and you will look like fools in the history books.

I have heard many schools have decided not to show this broadcast and that many others are allowing rebuttal from students and parents that are in attendance. I have also heard that the lesson plans that were to be distributed have been changed from urging support for Oabma to urging support for the country due to public pressure. If so, this shows another issue which Obama has been forced to retreat on. The first that comes to mind is the green jobs czar.

Good point Guy. Add to the retreat list: Closing Gitmo, changing rendition policy, no new taxes, no lobbyist, the President's prerogative to water board, transparency, death panels, bi-partisanship and much more. We're not done yet.

Good list. One not on the list, and one the liberal socialist sheep such as socialist Sheep POV would like to forget is the Patriot Act.

Conservatives have hated the Patriot Act as it is government intrusion into the lives of Americans. Liberals (POV especially) railed loudly against the Patriot Act during the election, but are now strangely quit on it. Why is that? Because, as socialists, they really promote things like the Patriot Act which is why the elected Hussein Obama for President.

Well POV, nothing to say on the Patriot Act? Why not? LOL.

Speaking of czars, It seems to me that if Obama knew he couldn't handle the job and would have to hire dozens of Czars, he wouldn't have run for president.

Who pays for those Czars and Michell's twenty some attendants anyway.

When Bush spoke to students, Democrats investigated, held hearings

The controversy over President Obama's speech to the nation's schoolchildren will likely be over shortly after Obama speaks today at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. But when President George H.W. Bush delivered a similar speech on October 1, 1991, from Alice Deal Junior High School in Washington DC, the controversy was just beginning. Democrats, then the majority party in Congress, not only denounced Bush's speech -- they also ordered the General Accounting Office to investigate its production and later summoned top Bush administration officials to Capitol Hill for an extensive hearing on the issue.
Unlike the Obama speech, in 1991 most of the controversy came after, not before, the president's school appearance. The day after Bush spoke, the Washington Post published a front-page story suggesting the speech was carefully staged for the president's political benefit. "The White House turned a Northwest Washington junior high classroom into a television studio and its students into props," the Post reported.
