Washed Up Main Street Media on the Acorn Story

This is MSNBC's take 3 days after story broke. Worse still ABC's Charlie Gibson was asked today (7 days after the story first broke) why ABC World News had not run a juicy story that included prostitution, pimping, misuse of government funds, and finally a vote by Congress to cut off funds for a major group with ties to President Obama. Can you believe that Charlie Gibson answered that this was the first time he had heard of the story, but it did sound interesting!

Acorn is burying themselves. If congress doesn't take action, we need to. To think women would okay children as prostitutes, makes me sick. What is happening to mankind?

Charlie disappoints me.

One Question are you better off than you were $4 TRILLION ago?

Thanks Blogger.

In my humble opinion these two young journalist are worthy of a Pulitzer prize. Mr. O'Keefe is 25 and Hannah Giles is 20. Their courage is inspiring. They spent a total of $1300 and I suspect we haven't seen all of their work yet. The press is not reporting the story and, if Gibson is to believed, don't even know about it.

Anyone that believes they can't make a difference on their own need look no further than these great Americans. How is it that the MSM with all their resources did not uncover this kind of corruption?

The Senate vote to defund ACORN was 83-7. Here's the seven that voted no:
* Dick Durbin (D-IL)
* Roland Burris (D-IL)
* Robert Casey (D-PA)
* Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
* Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
* Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
* Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)

Where's Obama? Why isn't he leading the charge and instructing Attorney General Holder to conduct a full investigation? I guess he's too busy investigating the CIA.

All of the now four videos can be found here.

Barrack Obama to ACORN at the Heartland Democratic Presidential Forum in December 2007:

“Yes, but let me say that even before I get inaugurated, during the transition we’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda,” replied Obama. ”We’re gonna be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.”

Gregg, "words,just words" another Obama quote.

The anti Acorn campaign is funded by those that don't want to see the disadvantaged to have a political voice.

This was not journalism.

Gregg said...

Lib,

Mr. O'Keefe paid the $1300 himself and has the receipts to prove it but that's not the point. What possible difference does it make who paid for it? Are you defending using taxpayer money for setting up brothels staffed by children? That's a stretch for even the likes of you. Please clarify.

Journalism is not journalism, this is.

Liberal journalists going undercover to report corruption, sex scandals and the encouragement of criminal activity in a business is an expose. Conservatives using their own funds and giving up their own time to report corruption, sex scandals and the encouragement of criminal activity in a liberal, government funded organization is "gotcha journalism." Liberal journalists win awards. Conservatives get threatened with lawsuits and are dismissed out-of-hand.

Thank you for this thread, Blogger.

There are now five separate videos of ACORN supporting the prostitution of underage illegal aliens at five different ACORN offices. This is irrefutable proof that ACORN is at least supportive of criminal activities. In my opinion, they are a criminal organization themselves.

The total absence of the main stream or main street media (use your preferred term) has been a revelation to the small portion of the public that did not acknowledge their bias. These people probably will continue to deny this bias, but even they now realize this denial is ridiculous.

Glen Beck has suggested we start referring the these media outlets as the fringe media. This is perfectly logical as they are biased and no longer do their jobs. The internet has become the prime source of news because you do not just get spin from one side on the net. You can get differing opinions on the same topic and make up your own mind.

Does any one know how we could start a campaign to nominate these two courageous young people for the Pulitzer prize?

I don't know but they are certainly deserving. I am going to do some checking.

How 'bout: Pinball Wizard Media?
(deaf, dumb and blind)
(sure plays a mean "spinball")

Blogger said...

Guy, Yeh "fringe media" works.

I started to run the Acorn videos but felt like Fox had done that for everyone. We all knew Acorn was corrupt, so for me the next big story was another disaster by the fringe media.

Guy,

This link has some information about the Pulitzer Prize. Recipients are chose by an independent panel at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. I wonder if their phones are ringing? It seems like there are several catagories that would apply.

Gregg said...

Here's another link with guidelines on how to enter. It seems that the prize is limited to materials in print.

guy faulkes said...

This is indeed a travesty of justice if these two young people cannot even be nominated. Their efforts at least equal those of the Watergate exposure.

And it keeps on coming. Now the House has voted to strip funding from ACORN. The Senate swang 57 votes since March when they recently voted 83-7 to defund them as well. They've been prohibited from helping with the Census. There are demands for a DOJ investigation. Have you seen the graffiti? Did you hear Jon Stewart? ACORN is now a laughing stock in the pop culture. Not to mention the ongoing investigations of voter fraud in 14 States. These events cannot help in those cases. Now their many splinter groups will begin to be investigated. Eventually the conversation will inevitably lead to Obama and his much touted work as a "Community Organizer" for ACORN and his promise to let them help shape the agenda.

All because to these two kids.

If we can't get them a Pulitzer, how about an Oscar? Or at least that Cannes Film Festival award they gave Fahrenheit 911.

Above should read:

"ACORN and the "fringe media" are now a laughing stock in the pop culture."

The world may be ending. First Obama calls West a jackass and I agree and then Jon Stewart does something I think is funny.

I am still researching the Pulitzer situation. These has to be a way.

Gregg said...

The House vote to defund ACORN was 345-75. The 75 were all Democrats.

Gregg thanks That Jon Stewart link is a real hoot.

Blogger and GOP

What part of the ACORN agenda do you did agree with?

Lets say aside from any misbehavior you may believe happened.

http://www.acorn.org/index.php?id=12341

Remember the videos you have watched were edited and would not meet journalist standards.

Should the whole program be trashed because of a few low level employees even it true?

guy faulkes said...

POV, the current incarnation of ACORN has no redeeming features. There may have been a time when it was less odious, but that has long since passed. I refer you to the allegations of the eight ACORN leaders that were disposed when they blew the whistle on ACORN's illegal and immoral activities. I also believe they have files suit against ACORN.

Compare the wrong doing on Wall Street to wrong doing by ACORN.

Is anyone suggesting we abolish Wall Street?

Apples and oranges, POV.

Apples has money and political power and oranges has none?

ACORN is apparently a criminal organization. Wall Street is many organizations, most of whom are entirely legitimate.
