It's Come To This

Some "real deep thinkers" may say this original post is petty. But this incident is telling in multiple ways. The Hispaniards thinking they deserve an apology for someone showing their American patriotism when they are economic refugees from their own country, shows the EXTREME damage political correctness is doing to this country and the Hispaniards. This is just one thing of many.
They (the Hispaniards) are also showing a greater respect for the country they fled, yet they won't go back there to help make it a better place. The US is going to have to FORCE them to do the right thing, and that is go back and save the country they are most proud of, don't abandon it.

It is time for a civil rights lawsuit against the school administrators on first amendment grounds. I beleive that the Fifth Circuit Court has already ruled that students can wear such shirts as shown here as a matter of free speech. As this is a civil rights matter, the school personnel that decided these young people could not wear these shirts can be sued individually and not as public employees. This would settle the issue once and for all.

At the risk of offending Nonny, that is a brilliant point Sark! (I don't use a lot of exclamation points)

Guy, you knocked it out of the park as well. I hadn't considered the free speech angle. The parents seem pissed, I hope they do sue.

Thanks to Sarkazein, Guy and Honest Debate.

These foreigners have been so excessively indulged in our country, they no longer can even hear how nutty they have become.

Maybe it will come to this.

These parents should call their local ACLU to defend the constitutional rights of their children.

Even if the kids were just trying to be assholes to the Mexican kids they appear to be within their rights.

To POV, wearing an American flag is being an @$$^o!*

All this over cinco de quatro.

"To POV, wearing an American flag is being an @$$^o!*"

If it was done just to piss off the Mexican kids, yes but the would still have a right to do that.

Why would the American flag piss-off Mexicans? The flag they ran to, to escape the misery under their Mexican flag. The Mexicans are in an American school, eating free lunch and breakfast.
This is what I mean when I say the more you do for people who don't deserve it the more they resent you.
It is showing big time. Both with youth gangs and these goofy Mexican kids.

Wow, this is weird. I agree with LiberalPOV on this one. I respect Sark's brilliant point, and it is brilliant. I actually think the kids wearing flags were doing it to make a statement. I wouldn't call them names though. Lib didn't either, he said "even if". It is in the realm of possibility that the kids were trying to be jerks. I just don't see what difference it makes under the rule of law. They were wronged and should be vindicated. I hope they sue.

"Why would the American flag piss-off Mexicans? The flag they ran to, to escape the misery under their Mexican flag."

It wasn't the American Flag. It was clothing made with American flags big difference.

Sarkazein said...

That doesn't even make sense. what are you writing, Mexicans have an overwhelming fashion sense?
You will make excuses for anyone hating America.
YOU ARE the Ugly-American.

Honest Debate said...

Dang Lib, just when I thought we were getting somewhere.

Here's what Roger Ebert tweeted: "Kids that wear American flag t-shirts on 5 May should have to share a lunchroom with those that wear a hammer and sickle on 4 July."

That got me thinking, "what if". I doubt anyone would get in trouble. I personally would not give a wit. Once again the libs focus on feelings instead of the law.

I'm trying to agree the kids had a right to wear tee shirts and pants covered images of the American flag but did you see a real American flag anywhere?

Too many in the conservative movement try waving an American flag way too large causing it to blind the conservative of the real American values and the flag gets dragged in the mud and stepped on by the same overly patriotic person.

Wave a flag you can see around, to see the future, the past and justice and hold it well above the mud of ignorance and prejudice.

Liberalproverbs18:2, conservatives are the people that reflect the values of this country. We do not support terrorism, terrorists, ignoring the rule of law, and forcing underage girls into prostitution. We do not support violating anyone's civil rights. We leave those values to your side.

That one must be from the bottom of the main-drain at the bottom of the deep end of the think tank. (Where the brain is deprived of oxygen)

Sark and Guy

If I was a cartoonist I would draw you conservatives trying to parade with a American flag the size of a two story building draging it through mud and knocking over the statue of Justice and marching to a cliff.

You may not be a cartoonist, but you are a cartoon. You are ridiculous. Where is your rebuttal instead of your personal attack?
