Ashe County FInalizes Gun Control

The Ashe county commissioners, by a 3 to 2 vote, have prohibited the carrying of firearms in designated parks and recreational facilities in Ashe county.
Monday's second and final reading of the proposed restrictions resulted in the same vote as the previous initial vote with Commissioners Gerald Price and Gary Roarke opposing the restrictions. Both Roarke and Price have announced their intention to run for another term in the 2012 elections.

Ashe county has now joined the towns of Blowing Rock and Boone in banning concealed carry permit holders from carrying in designated recreational areas.

There is a possibility that the NC Legislature will, in a future session, revise the statute which currently allows local governments to restrict second amendment rights.

The Watauaga County board of County Commissioners has (so far) resisted imposing similar restrictions in Watauga parks. Commissioner Vince Gable, in particular, has been a strong supporter of the second amendment.

Well, we could live in New Hampshire where a man was arrested for firing a warning shot while attempting to apprehend a burgler

I wonder how long before you will not be able to carry on any property in Watauga county. Possibly even your own.

The Boone Town Council just put the nail in the coffins of all the independent music venues this week.

Now the only place live music will be is in their newly bought theater venue paid for by taxpayer money with out any vote on if it should have been bought in the 1st place.

Boone has not banned carry in parks yet, although they probably will. It is my understanding the ordinance has not even been written.

guy...you are correct and I stand corrected. I have no doubt that Boone will pass such an ordnance, but I did "jump the gun"...(Pun intended)

G.I.G. the corrupt Boone Town Council was just quelling their competitors in entertainment.

But I doubt they will be able to find the funds to remodel and open the theatre.

Wolf, the BTC easily found the funds to buy it at taxpayer expense. Why would you think they would hesitate to use the checkbook they have that can not be overdrawn to remodel it, to make sure they have a monopoly on music in Boone.

And you can bet Concealed weapons will not be allowed in the taxpayer bought venue.

I hope that the citizens of Ashe County will remember to support these commissioners who supported the second amendment!

Texas has very few restrictions on carry in public places. As far as I know, there is no prohibition of legal carry in City parks. I carry in City parks. The following is advise to people against carrying in the City parks if you ever visit Texas. First, always assume the low-crawl position when entering the park. Crawl quickly to a picnic table. Turn the picnic table over on its side for cover. If no table is available, dig a slit-trench and slide into the trench with your family and keep your head down. If someone needs to make a bathroom trip, don't try it. Use the trench... it is much safer. Over 1,000 people are killed in Houston City parks each and every day from stray bullets alone.

Once again the ever growing liberal movement has no counter among conservatives. The liberals, unfortunately, are DOING SOMETHING ( no parks carry in Blowing Rock, Boone, Ashe County and many, many others).

Aside from Vince Gable, I see few Republicans doing anything except watching liberty erode. These aren't incremental steps anymore either. With forced health care, National Defense Authorization Act (voted on by Republitards as well), high gas prices, half the population not paying taxes, no immigration enforcement, and zealous enforcemnet of American citizens, your rights are GONE. But we let it happen to ourselves.

We are witnessing a US President losing a war.

It is to late for Ashe County and Blowing Rock, but maybe we can send this letter and the links to the Boone Council instead of Greensboro. It will probably do no good, but we can try.
