VENT PAGE XXXVIII - Of course it has to be the ".38 SPECIAL"

S&W .38 Special circa 1949
Vent Page XXXVIII. ...and when you think of "38", you almost have to be thinking of the S&W .38 special - in it's time the most popular Police issued sidearm in the world.

Whenever the number of posts on a vent page make it cumbersome to navigate, a new vent page is started. This is number THIRTY EIGHT in our series!

VENT PAGES are handy for posting of off-topic posts, rants, raves, rages, etc which might not be appropriate on other threads where adults are having serious discussions. Childish rant? Need to call another poster a name?Just feel like spouting off? Or even if you have something to say and there doesn't seem to be any other logical place to say it....THIS PAGE IS FOR YOU!!

Of course we still miss our Marilyn Vent Page....Vent Page XXXVI, and considered even posting a Jayne Mansfield page in honor of Vent Page XXXVIII - but, good taste and all that - we went with the most obvious!
Not to say we have forgotten Marilyn though.....

For those who can't get enough of her!

My choice... add the laser.

guy faulkes said...

Sark, even though I could use one because of my elderly eyes, I never could get used to a laser. It may be that they are better now, but the old ones were useless in any but very low light / dark conditions. I personally prefer one of the powerful small flashlights that you can carry on your belt or in your pocket for these conditions.

However, I do know people that swear by laser sighting.

From a Comp-Tac holster add I received on email. Where is the closest Starbucks?

Most of you may have heard about a national boycott of Starbucks Coffee on February
14th. The National Gun Victim's Action Council (NGAC) is organizing a national
boycott of Starbucks Coffee this Valentine’s Day because Starbucks will not
implement an anti-carry policy for their stores.

Instead, Starbucks defers to each location’s state laws thereby allowing CCW permit
holders to carry on Starbucks’ premises in states where it is legal to conceal or
open carry a firearm. NGAC believes that Starbucks (and other companies taking a
similar stance) policy “significantly increases everyone's risk of being a victim of
gun violence.”

The NGAC is targeting a company that allows American citizens to exercise their
Second Amendment rights. Comp-Tac employees will be given $2.00 bills, representing
our Second Amendment, to spend at their local Starbucks on February 14th. We’re
asking all of our customers to support your local Starbucks this Valentine’s Day
when they will nationally boycotted for supporting our country’s right to bear arms.
Be sure to mention why you’re there and thank them for standing up for our

I'm afraid of the gun posted on your blog post. A photo of a gun is enough to make people turn into psychopathic killers; at least according to liberal socialist sheep. Schools outlaw such photos, and students are regularly expelled for mentioned the word gun. What great, tolerant school systems we have.

Liberals claim education is key to everything then they go and ban everything related to guns in schools. Speech, photos and magazines with gun content are no longer allowed in schools. Makes no sense does it? Makes liberals look hypocritical doesn't it?

Any liberal sheep care to take me on concerning the zero tolerance policy schools have and how those policies stifle education, inquisitive students, and free thinking?

This ought to be interesting....

Your ole pal

PS This is exactly why I was kicked off Watauga Watch by JW Williamson! Tough questions, tough questions. LOL!!!

My laser will see in the light. What I liked about it was the learning of trigger control using the laser. With dry fire, it is amazing to watch the dot when the trigger is pulled. It helps with trigger control. Also my carry 38 Special is the J frame, not the large frame as the picture. I can imagine an instance where I might not want to be seen in the two-handed standing position. I have fired accurately, using the laser, from the hip and in a sitting position from the side of the seat of the chair. The laser tells you where you are aiming.

I understand that the Boone Town Council is still working on their Child Molester Zones, Designated Victim Areas and Rapist Friendly Athletic Areas.

In the above article you will see that even an overly Democratic city (as you can tell from the 3rd world look) self defense is acceptable and necessary.

From the link : "The last time Brown, 73, called the Detroit police, they didn’t show up until the next day. So she applied for a permit to carry a handgun and says she’s prepared to use it against the young thugs who have taken over her neighborhood, burglarizing entire blocks, opening fire at will and terrorizing the elderly with impunity.

Remember, when seconds count, police are only a day or so away!

That's ok folks, I understand you dunces run from facts

And to go with the tale of the descent of one of our greatest manufacturing cities into 3rd world status comes this tale of what I have been saying for a long time, that whoever is elected President won't matter.

Only Ron Paul is talking about what must be done to stop financial Ragnarok.

I'm sort of feeling like a fight.

Not that any liberals are capable of even minute advances towards my totalitarian lock on freedom, liberty, and common sense, but it sure would be nice if you dolting deadbeats would try.

JW Williamson. You were a professor right? The proginator of a socialistic website? How about a head to head with me - you name the subject. Any subject will do - even one within your sphere of speciality. Go ahead and do it. Show us slop-bastards how stupid we are. Dare you, dolt.

PS Your minions are watching you JW. Will you let them down?

Has anyone seen the new show called "Doomsday Preppers"? I watched it half expecting another reality show filled with bleeps and mock antagonism.

I was pleasantly surprised. The show revolved around real folks who actually agreed to be interviewed. Some were liberal quacks, some were right leaning wackos, and a few were right leaning Patriots. Some good ideas were thrown around though.

What I found most interesting was the rating system used to measure prepardness among those highlighted. National Geographic Channel felt guns to be a core componet of a Doomsday Prepper. The liberal preppers who eschewed guns stated they would be able to withstand antagonists through a strong sense of community. Whatever that means! The right leaning preppers were very well armed and practiced skills like "bugging out".

Some of these folks had enough food to last 25 years! Wish I was prepped that good. One of these days, if things work out, I will be.

What do you folks think the biggest threat to feeding yourself will be in upcoming years?

My rank order is:
1. Pandemic. I believe we are long overdue for a pandemic like the Spanish Flu. Many scientists believe H5N1 (bird flu) will mutate into something transmissable between humans. Even a 10% mortality rate (bird flu is currently 70% lethal) would send the country into chaos.
2. Hyper-inflation. With such a complex, fragile economy and meaningless money, it stands to reason an economic collapse could happen. Percentage wise, it might only be 1% it would occur, but given what's at stake, that's pretty significant.
3. EMP. Electro Magnetic Pulse. As third world countries develop nukes, and the missles to carry them, an EMP event could wipe out our electronics within a millisecond. Or another "Carrington Event". Experts say it would take years to rebuild. Better start building your Farraday Cages!

They say the one you don't see coming is the one that gets you. I may not see other viable threats. What do you folks think?

Blogger, this might be a good post topic.

PS As a women, one of the most pressing ponts of prepardenss during a catastrophe are small children and babies. I suggest females, whenever possible, breastfeed. Not only is it healthier, it's convienant during an emergency. As long as you have food to eat the baby has food to eat.

New Guy, why don't you run for county commissioner? In this election, if we are to follow the constitution and give our country back to the people, we have to have good leaders at every level of government.

NewGuy said...

Not me Blogger. I'm too old, too tired, and don't have the stamina for either campaigning or serving.

Plus about 1000 other reasons...

But, I will do what I can to support the candidates I believe in! We have some great people running with Vince Gable, Jonathan Jordan, Dan Soucek, Virginia Foxx, Pat McCrory and a player to be named later!

I expect that we will see a couple of good candidates for the Jim Deal and Tim Futrelle seats on the BOC and I look forward to the "season"!!

It is my belief that we will hold on to the seats we presently hold, pick up one more county commissioner and at least one more Republican Congressman in NC! Add Pat McCrory in the governors mansion and it will be a good year at the county and state level.

Johnny Rico, here's what happened to one of the people profiled on Doomsday Preppers:

SO, the local gov't decided that someone preparing to survive is actually suicidal.

I believe it was done to color preppers as mentally unbalanced, and to show that the gov't has the power to do whatever it wants to you.

Thats why many preppers I know practice OPSEC (Operational Security), that is, keeping vital information secret from those who don't need to know.

Thank you for the link, New Guy.

I wonder how many people had a house on the bridge in Concord when the Revolutionary war started over gun control. The British were, after all, on their way to disarm the people of Lexington and Concord. Surely they were not outside their houses.
