More on Early Voting...

Through Thursday, Watauga county has had 1314 Ballots cast....Democrat ballots have maintained the lead with 510 Dem ballots vs 443 Repubs and 361 other....

I don't know if you can read anything into  the Soucek/Robinson primary by just the vote counts, but so far Caldwell county has turned out almost 3 times the number of Republican voters as Watauga has (1273 vs 443). Caldwell has about 70% more registered Republicans than Watauga does which would account for part of that differential...but 3 times?

The Polls at the Watauga Courthouse will be open \.Saturday, May 5 from 8AM until 1 PM .

Starting Monday, all 3 early voting places in Watauga (ALL within Boone town limits) will be open. (Courthouse, Student Union and Police Station)

Is Robinson popular in Caldwell? I haven't seen him here in Watauga. Just a few signs. Is Caldwell the county in the district with the most votes?

I don't have, nor claim to have, any "feel" for what is going on in Caldwell County politcs. I know that the Caldwell Republican Club has endorsed Soucek.

Caldwell is "brand new" to State Senate District 45. They have 53274 registered voters vs Watauga's 40,825...AND a substantially higher percentage of their voters are registered Republican.

The other 3 counties in District 45 (Ashe, Alleghany and Avery)have a COMBINED total of registered voters slightly less than Watauga.
Ashe at appx 19, Avery 11.7K and Allegany at 7k.

Soucek has a 97.2 conservative Civitas rating...second in the NC Senate. He also has a 100% rating and an endorsement from Grass Roots NC - a 2nd amendment watchdog group.

My feeling is that Dan will do well in those areas which he has been representing and where he is well known (Ashe & Watauga). I don't know how he is thought of in
his new counties...(Avery, Alexander and Caldwell. My guess is he will do pretty well in all 3.

Robinson previously represented Caldwell and Avery when he was in the NC House.

Go Robinson! Dan is as pro-2nd Amendment as any Lib! Anyone that voted for a bill that allows municipalities to ban guns in parks will not get my vote! He has learned political double-speak in his short time in Raleigh.

I voted for Robinson. A guy from New Jersey should't be representing me.

I also voted for Robinson yesterday. Soucek ran for the hills on the second amendment at the public hearing in Blowing Rock.

Robinson isn't very pro-gun. He has a 0 rating from Grass Roots North Carolina.
