VENT PAGE XLIV The MAGNUM Edition (you knew that was coming, right?)

An armed society... is a polite society! 44 Magnum

VENT PAGE 44...The Magnum Edition commemorating the S&W .44 Magnum (for when the .50 Magnum is just more gun than you need!)....

And you can't say .44 Magnum without Clint Eastwood coming to mind!

And now, he, and his .44 are  our honorees. commemorating VENT PAGE 44...."Are ya feelin' lucky, punk?"

Whenever the number of posts on a vent page make it cumbersome to navigate, a new vent page is started. This is number FORTY-FOUR  in our series!

VENT PAGES are handy for posting of off-topic posts, rants, raves, rages, etc which might not be appropriate on other threads where adults are having serious discussions. Childish rant? Need to call another poster a name?Just feel like spouting off? Or even if you have something to say and there doesn't seem to be any other logical place to say it....THIS PAGE IS FOR YOU!!
And...for when even the .50 cal is not enough, our selection for our 1944 vehicle might just fill the bill. This '44 Sherman, USMC favorite was recently available on Hemmings.

That'll Make Your Day!

More reports of attacks on Non-Blacks in the name of Trayvon. Where are the poverty pimps-- Jackass, Sharpton, Obama, Faracan and their useful idiots like NBC and Brushfire?

Had an early model S $ W Model 29. Beautiful blueing, 6"bbl (don't get excited LPOV!!!!) and an excellent trigger.

BUT it had a problem of the cylinder pin screwing out and locking up the action. Sad to say i sold it off.

I found that my Ruger Bisley .44 was built like a tank and very accurate with a 7 1/2" bbl.

Sarkazein said...

Wolf's Head-I have never fired a 7 1/2'' handgun. But I want one. Which would you recommend, the .44 or the .45 7 1/2'' revolver?

guy faulkes said...

Go with the .44, Sark. It is more versatile.

However, you would be pleased with either one.

Sarkazein said...

Guy Faulkes- One of our local shooting ranges has every handgun known to for rent. I will give the .44 a try. I do like the cowboy style revolver.

Wolf's Head said...

I'd go with the .44.

The .45 LC is a great cartridge for classic western guns but it is factory loaded to very low pressures in case it gets shot in an old gun.

With a .44 you can go into any gun shop and buy anything from a mild .44 Special loading to elephant stompin' .44 Mags.

While the Ruger can handle high powered .45 handloads the .44 is more versatile in my opinion.

Johnny Rico said...

The main point is to have a gun and be ready to use it. A .22 is better than nothing.

Buy a gun, learn to use it, and rest assured you're someone who takes personal responsibility for their personal safety.

Boy I shut down the liberal socialist sheep on the last vent page. Where are all you lemmings at? Didn't want any more of the South African nuke questions did you? LOL! Ran from that one as fast as possible. I even answered it for you sheep and you still wouldn't say anything! LOL!

Here it is again just in case you extremist wackos want to try again:

Why did South Africa give up nukes prior to apartied ending?

Well?

Still no takers on the fact gun control laws are racist and designed to disarm blacks. Why do you liberals support racist gun laws that give whitey the right to keep and bear arms while blackey can't?

Hard one to answer ain't it?

Oh and lest we forget the violent gang member illegal aliens in Watauga County. No comment on that either.

How come liberal Democratic Sheriff and liberal ex politician (let's keep it that way) Cullie Tarleton both wrote letters to the Watauga County Commission stripping hunting rights from US citizens, yet they are mum on violent illegal aliens threatening US citizen schoolchildren?

Something seems a bit wrong with that scenario doesn't it? Still no comment from the liberals on that very tough question. LOL!

NewGuy said...

Reader, I have met some of them - mostly at political functions when they visited Watauga county. I know others only by way of research on the net and recommendations of politically savvy friends whose opinions I trust.

Here is a good starting point for research...
http://ncvoterguide.org/watauga/index.php

This one is good too, it's mostly just a page of links to candidate web sites, but it's a start.
http://www.politics1.com/nc.htm

The Lt Governors race should be interesting...Dan Forest seems to be the Watauga favorite but I also like Tony Gurley (originally from Morganton) and Dale Folwell. Folwell is a bit too moderate for many Republicans but he has been an effective legislator. Being endorsed by the WS Journal probably will kill his chances tho!

The Secretary of State position has been held too long by Elaine Marshall. I think we need to change that! Beitler is a Libertarian and would make a good one. Daoud is also a businessman and understands that government needs to get out of the way! Both get extra points from me for having visited with us here in Watauga!

Similarly, Mike Causey, running for Insurance Commissioner seems to have a chance at this job. He has also come to Watauga to ask for support.

One other race of interest to me is the State Supt of Public Instruction. I keep up with state politics largely thru the Raleigh N&O and so have more - or - less followed the big controversies with the Wake County School Board....Tedesco has been really shaken things up there - stood up to the teachers unions, advocated for school choice and been a general all-around catalyst for change. Spend a little time googling him for news articles in the past 2 years and check out his web site...http://tedesco4kids.com/Teachers.html

I'm sure other posters here have opinions on the various candidates....should we start a new thread ?

New Guy, it seems as if I get to the voting booth and freeze, wondering if I will vote for the right person. I appreciate all the information and will follow through with reading about them. Thank you for the links. I always try to vote for the most conservative, but sometimes the candidate fails me. I know who I want to vote for locally, but not state...so thanks again.

NewGuy said...

Reader..You are certainly welcome, I hope I answered your question.

I share your dilemma sometimes when I am in the voting booth and really have little idea about some of the people I am voting for. Particularly judges. I have learned a little about Supreme Court Justice Newby because he has been in our area a couple of times and has actively campaigned. But, it's rare that I have that good of a personal "feel" for how I might like a judge. What I do, is I poll a few conservative lawyer friends and pretty much go by what they tell me.

I also try to go with the most conservative candidate...at least in the general election. It's a little harder in the primaries if/when you think that the very most conservative is not likely to do well in the general election. I usually try to go with the most conservative candidate that has a chance of winning in the general.

(I know Guy Faulkes would disagree with that position.. I understand his reasoning and I respect his opinion but, in the end have decided that it's better to put forward a conservative candidate who can win.)

Change- Obama has increased the national debt more than all previous Presidents combined and has had more campaign re-election fundraisers than all previous Presidents combined.

Johnny Rico said...

Looks like the liberals were beaten again! Silence is golden!

Sarkazein said...

Before George goes into his defense mode of the dog eater-- the K-9 connoisseur has held more re-election fundraisers than all Presidents since and including Nixon, combined. So that would be more fund raisers than Nixon, Ford, Reagan twice, George HW Bush twice,
Clinton twice, and George W Bush twice combined.

Sarkazein said...

Or would that be just one time for each President (re-election)? How about golf rounds in comparison? How about scores compared to other Presidents. Was Clinton only better when he cheated on the score?

guy faulkes said...

(I know Guy Faulkes would disagree with that position.. I understand his reasoning and I respect his opinion but, in the end have decided that it's better to put forward a conservative candidate who can win.)

I have to wonder who this candidate is. Romney is not electable. To many of his base will not support him because he is just like Obama.

However, this election looks like it will give those that choose to cast a ballot for President to pick the socialist of their choice. I could b wrong about his electability. It will not be up to me to decide as I choose to not vote for either of them.

Sarkazein said...

From an email: This tells the real story about the “Bush economy that Obama is always talking about. Don't just skim over this, read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out.

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007 the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress. The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77 The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5% The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH

Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from Barney Frank’s Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy. And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush...

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party. Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 &2011.

In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

Rick Santorum wrote- "The primary campaign certainly made it clear that Governor Romney and I have some differences. But there are many significant areas in which we agree: the need for lower taxes, smaller government, and a reduction in out-of-control spending. We certainly agree that abortion is wrong and marriage should be between one man and one woman. I am also comfortable with Governor Romney on foreign policy matters, and we share the belief that we can never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. And while I had concerns about Governor Romney making a case as a candidate about fighting against Obamacare, I have no doubt if elected he will work with a Republican Congress to repeal it and replace it with a bottom up, patient, not government, driven system.

Above all else, we both agree that President Obama must be defeated. The task will not be easy. It will require all hands on deck if our nominee is to be victorious. Governor Romney will be that nominee and he has my endorsement and support to win this the most critical election of our lifetime."

Reader said...

Sark, I agree with Santorum...I am going back on my word when I step into the booth today and voting for Romney. I just pray I'm doing the right thing. Obama has done enough damage to our great country. I may be making a mistake and I will be the first to admit it.

Sarkazein said...

Reader- Wouldn't it be almost impossible NOT to do everything possible to rid ourselves of Obama? I just can't imagine me sitting out an election of this importance, or casting a vote no one but me and a couple of close friends would ever know about. The primary. by now, hardly matters. Texas is not until the end of MAY. But the primary, for instance, with a large showing for libertarianism (Paul) wouldn't hurt. But the anti-Obamanites are so divided, a strong showing for Romney could also be a good thing.
