Resolution Opposing the Adoption of Supplemental Standards for Multi-Family Housing in the Town of Boone

It's great that we have one entity in local government with a little bit of common sense! If the Boone Planning Board were to have it's way, builders would not be allowed to build upscale apartment complexes with 3 car garages or "extra" bathrooms - no matter what the demand for them might be. If Boone wants to subsidize low income housing, they should do so with their own tax revenues and/or available grants. Preventing developers from building to accommodate what they believe to be market demand is not what a free country is all about! If buyers (or renters) want more parking, or more bathrooms, or smaller master bedrooms, they should be provided for. It's not up to the People's Republic of Boone to decide what others may have.

Little late, isn't it? The Council votes before the resolution is voted on.

Perhaps the Boone Town Council is taking the lead from President Obama.

If a grass hut with no plumbing is good enough for his own brother they believe it's good enough for the rest of us.

It did not have to be late Anonymous. The town could fave tabled the issue to the second meeting or even to a special meeting. They chose not to do so as they wanted no arguments against passage presented by the county.

The General Assembly needs to pass a law that Watauga County can recall elected officals. Dan Soucek needs to be contacted to see if this is possible.
