Statehood for Puerto Rico and DC

What if DC and Puerto Rico were granted statehood? Both jurisdictions have been asking (voting) for this for decades, yet Congress has failed on the issue.

Political experts posit both Puerto Rico and DC as swing states - with a leaning towards Republican. Yet, even after the House passed a statehood measure, the Senate refused to vote

As an open question: Who is afraid of a voice for all Americans? Puerto Ricans (who have no Congressional voting representatives and cannot vote for President) and DC'ers are as American as you or me, yet lack full electoral power on a federal level.

1. 'Leaning Republican' ??????!!!!!!!

Hahahahahahahaaha

2. Read the Constitution. It would require a Constitutional amendment for DC to become a state.

3. Free Puerto Rico! Let them be their own country instead of joining the RACIST white dominated United States.

Wolf, not sure where you were going with your comment but:

1) Statehood shouldn't be predicated on potential political support.

2) Yes, statehood measures would require legislative action.

3) Puerto Ricans have voted multiple times for statehood. As we have kept the island as a territory/colony/commonwealth for over 120 years, we might want to listen to the voices of our fellow American citizens.

Hawley Concerned That Being a Coward Is Overshadowing His Work as a Fascist

From The New Yorker WASHINGTON ( The Borowitz Report )—Senator Josh Hawley is “deeply concerned” that his newfound national reputation for cowardice is overshadowing his commitment to end democracy. “People see one video of me fleeing like a terrified bunny, and they think that’s all there is to me,” Hawley told reporters at a press conference. “They’re totally forgetting that I’m also a guy who tried to overturn a free and fair election.” Hawley admitted that, although it is tempting to stereotype him as “a guy who was scared shitless of a mob he had egged on earlier in the day, that’s just one side of me. What about the side of me that wantonly subverts democracy? That should count for something.” “People are focussing on the totally chickenshit Josh Hawley and ignoring the lusting-for-autocracy Josh Hawley,” he complained. Hawley’s press conference was cut short after a reporter asked a question and the senator ran away.

Sedition

Following the January 6th attack on the Capitol, the seditionists have gone into deep hiding!  Blogger, Sark, Guy, Wolf, and the rest have sunk their heads down in the hopes that we will overlook their multi-year cooperation in this anti-American farce that is Trump-ism.  Even the the aptly-named "Nobody" who attempted a competing blog following our departure from racism/fascism/authoritarianism has deleted  her own content after the coup d'etat. (Note that "Nobody" is the reason why we are moderating comments for racist and fascist content...probably explains the blog deletion).  Hear it here and hear it loud - fascism and authoritarianism are not welcome here.
